Well it sucks but unless you man up and say something you won't have any closure.
If she answers with "K" or shoots you down it will sting but the wound will heal.
If she expresses ANY interest then you have already benefited (no more pining for her).
Anything more is just a bonus.
It's easy to be internet wingman but in this instance you should either burn the bridge or cross it if you can. The pain you feel just isn't worth holding onto.
If I was back to my school days there are a hundred things I would do differently but knowing what I know now... I wouldn't change much, things turned out all right. I'm healthy, contented, have a good job and great friends.
Things could have turned out differently; Say I got my junior high crush pregnant. My life would be completely different and the opportunities I exploited wouldn't have been open to me.

Plan a couple of lines that you can use in a pinch, don't try to plan the whole conversation. You'll drive yourself nutty.
