oh of course.
soda was my biggest problem, especially since i had thin teeth.
back when i was in school i'd have a 591ml bottle of pop during lunch,
then go home and have a can right away. then another one at supper, and one more before bed. that was almost every day.
those 3-4 cans adds up to when my family bring takeout home, and usually it's a diet for me anyway.
but yeah i'm definitely trying to cut back some more

Experiment with spices, or mixes that you are sure don't contain any salt. Spices contain no calories and don't affect the body adversely.
Also, research the risks and damage that too much salt does. That's sure to motivate you to cut down on the consumption of salt.

first, understand the problem. the gut bacteria you have are of different kinds. your diet affects which ones will be dominant. so when you eat food that is rich in saturated fat and sugar, you'll get more gut bacteria that wants that - and it will actively make you crave more of it. It's also in your brain - you've taught yourself (taught your brain) that that sort of food 'feels good', so whenever you're not on it, your brain misses it. It IS an addiction, because your brain keeps craving the endorphines released and recieved whenever you eat and drink that sort of food/beverage.
now that you know this, you can overcome it easier. The way you do it is by changing your diet slowly. if you try to change it too drastically, you'll just fail hard and go back and eat more than you did before. Instead, change it little by little. Add less salt. Eat smaller portions. And recognize whenever you do that, and pat yourself on the back. That positive reinforcement will lead to you associating eating healthier with feeling good, and over time, you'll have made progress.
Once you've done enough progress, it's time to slowly start eating healthier foods. Remember to cook them as little as possible, and never deep fry. Drink more water throughout the day, and eat lots of FRESH fruits and vegetables. Boil, bake, and microwave as little as possible (if you have something like frozen vegetables it's fine to microwave them). Do NOT drink juice in any quantity. Instead find healthier alternatives, like unsweetened tea or coffee.
Over time, with these healthy habits, if you keep positively reinforcing it (actively thinking about how healthy you're eating and feeling proud of yourself), you'll be encouraged to keep doing it and sticking to it. Your gut bacteria that prefers the healthy food will also outnumber the bad food, so that will lead to a positive effect - you'll have as hard of a time to eat unhealthy food as you used to when you tried to eat healthy foods.

Cut down on carbs, eat mostly proteins.
Go for a thirty minute walk every day, and do leg exercises. (Squats, lunge-walks etc)
Within the thirty minute walks, run for 20 seconds and walk for 40 seconds, do this for 10 reps, which is ten minutes.
Within the month you might not weight less but you will be noticeably thinner.
