hobbies are important
I think the heroes behave like real people. They find themselves in ridiculous situations, which is ESPECIALLY the case in Ragnarok and they make a few jokes, because itd be much weirder for them not to. Thors character specifically is extremely hard to stay 100% serious with for the entire story because his character, in nature, is a ridiculous concept. This can be shown in the serious tone of Thor: The Dark world which had minimal jokes and took itself VERY seriously, compared to its extremely more successful sequel, Ragnarok, which didnt take it self too seriously.
Overall yeah, but the jokey tone has been there since the original Iron Man. I’m fine with humor as long as the emotional and heroic beats are still hit. My only serious pet peeve is where they do a gag where a big heroic moment with the soaring music is cut short when somebody goofs up. They want to wink at the audience and let us know they know it’s cheesey, but sometimes I just want that honest cheese. I liked GOTG 2 because they still had a heartfelt emotional part near the end, even though much of the film was comedic. And I really like that Black Panther toned the humor down and took its story more seriously.
Yeah. It's really hammered in too. Just forced and dated with literal meme references.
Thor Ragnar OK is the first to do it, and did it successfully IMO
Yeah, most marvel movies are just full of jokes which, in my opinion, isnt something pleasant to watch anymore. Thor for example is just a goofy alien with electricity instead of being a god of Thunder
I think they're doing that because of GotG/Deadpool, because the comedy in those is part of what helped them sell
Marvel doesn't do Deadpool. Fox does. It's a Marvel property but not Marvel production. It's why they can get away with raunchy humor in the first place.
Wait, didn't fox sell out to Disney? Technically Deadpool is a marvel property now, if Disney Will's it, anyways.
Shit you're right.
I mean yeah it's working, look how popular marvel movies are. Kids and adults alike enjoy them but it's not something I like to watch anymore
