Good day! Before you ask, yes, I am a real Wumbologist. My name is Patrick Star (Dr. Star to you) and I am a professor of Wumbology at the Star School of Wumbology at Princeton University. I also do research regarding wumbo factors.
If you wish to attend my lecture series, shoot me an email at p.star@princeton.edu
Also, my fiancee is Sjorin, so keep your hands off him.

| I do for one simple reason, Sunkist has caffeine in it. Crush does not. Orange Crush isn't off-brand; if you've ever had it it's actually much better-tasting than Sunkist, not to mention the fact that it's quite popular in other parts of the country. Hey, Wumbo. I realised that I never really talked to you while you were still part of SoL. what're you up to these days?
Well, I've been doing a lot--hanging out with friends, reading manga, recording, studying Chinese; just yesterday I came back from a mandatory retreat. Just waiting for senior year to be over so I can head off to college. Yourself?
i'm studying anthropology/history and i always appreciate when other people know how to use logic and reasoning regarding touchy subjects such as feminism, and having open minds towards it. other than comments like "back in the kitchen lelz" or "feminism is the devil!"
yeah, feminism has had many negative aspects on "normal society" (regarding traditional views of patriarchy) but it has opened up so many doors to bettering our society as a whole. our society, regarding women/gays/liberals is in that awkward teenage stage, where everything is confusing and it doesn't seem like there is going to be any improvement any time soon. but, it will get better in the future. history has already shown us that.
sorry this comment isn't put together very well, i just got home from a long day and i'm very tired. i hope you get the gist of what i'm saying.

Well I read every single book the day I got it, so, after having completed it, I ADORED IT. I had seen Scott Pilgrim the movie before, but the books are just on another level—absolute masterwork. Furthermore, I had actually read all of them at a friend's house before, but I just wanted to reread them/actually own them for future reference, because the reread value is absurdly high.
Lost at Sea is also quite good, but in a different, more introspective way, and while you'll still see a lot of the O'Malley-style witty dialogue, it's a more somber work.

I'm just a high schooler with a fledging fanfiction career, but I'd say that the most important thing is to make it seem natural. While this necessitates a certain amount of social grace itself, it's important that as you write it, you ask yourself a) would anyone ever say this and b) would THIS CHARACTER ever say it.
So, certain types of people are frequently used in comedy, and there are some tried-and-true character archetypes. For example, you usually will have a...

and so forth.
Rather than writing situations, spend a good chunk of time writing characters, down to their hobbies, likes, dislikes, and backstories, and just sit back and let your intriguing characters live their lives, which, if you did it right, should be hilarious. So, when you create these sort of characters, you're not creating situations that will produce more jokes, the characters are. For example, let's say that your token foreigner has invited you for traditional Eastern European food, or that your Magnificent Bastard has for some reason and with no explanation signed your gang up for a curling tournament, with no explanation. These sort of situations would arise naturally from the absurd characters you create. So, now that you've been invited to token foreigner's house, what's the first thing the cloudcuckoolander notices or says--perhaps that it smells like wheat grass. But wait, inquires the straight man, what is that and how do you know what it smells like--cue the Magnificent Bastard, who comments that they most likely overdid the roast, and the musclehead could then produce a hilarious misunderstanding that greatly offends the foreigner's parents. This is a terrible example, but I'm trying to illustrate the point that the jokes should just WRITE THEMSELVES if you create interesting characters in an interesting setting.
I hope this helps, and let me know how it goes.

Wumbo, you know what we should have tonight? A good ol' session of WORDS THAT FOLLOW! :O
Well, I was more active on SOL II, and only ever made one comment on the first one. Ironically, it was one of the first comments, then I left and rejoined it.
What I think is more likely is that we discussed something on some anime-related content or something of that nature.

hey dude would you trade some of your fj points for items?
I've published the factbook and am prepared to follow all instructions related to the United SoL thread Nations region that you have provided for us. :)
I'm unsure, but I just want to make sure you are aware of the existence of the NationStates Discussion Board I made.

The best part is that it just fits all these stereotypes perfectly.
Saying that obama is an atheist forcing secularism because he forgot his bible, think evolution is some sort of nihilistic philosophy, thinking that communism/marxism is in the name of atheism.
They even got those stereotypical "arguments" against evolution like the second law of thermodynamics and the "complex" eye.
I thought these types of people never occured on the internet.

Hey Wumbo, sometime this weekend I'm going to see if the thread would like to do a Words that Follow game like we used to in old times.
...make sure you are online for that :)

Dude, I'll fucking BE THERE. I was just thinking the same thing, and it would be a welcome change of pace if I won at someone else's games, because I always thought it was kind of shitty how often I won considering I made the damn things.
