You can make it sound as poetic as possible and it's not going to change the fact that he's scum. Under no circumstances do you put another person's life in danger by pointing a gun at their face. "But when you're desperate, you'd do anything!" This is what separates good people from bad people.
I have no sympathy for a piece of shit like an armed robber. And you shouldn't either.
User avatar #25 - tenacioustroll (03/29/2014) [-]
you seem to have a hard time understanding what these people are trying to say. the kids not trying to be poetic or sympathetic for the guy. neither of them said he wasnt scum. if you are going to have a convo then at least have enough brains to understand what other people are saying because it looks like you are having a hard time reading
User avatar #28 - mutzaki (03/30/2014) [-]
Okay, here's a check list of all the key points having been said.
1. The robber fucked up because he was under a lot of stress, and anyone else in the same situation would be just as likely to fuck up.
2. Some robbers rob people because they're desperate and feel like they have no other choice.
3. Try to understand what the robber was going through before judging him.
4. Again, try to see things from the robber's perspective. Pointing a gun at someone is as hard as having it pointed at you.

I think I got it all. So, before I continue, do you want to tell me what it was I missed? What was the actual lesson behind all you guys' wise words that I so clearly missed from having a hard time understanding and reading?
User avatar #30 - tenacioustroll (03/30/2014) [-]
exactly so where in the helll do you get that any of these guys were being sympathetic for him. they arent justifying what he did simply saying see it from both sides. you seem to not want to which is cool. but you dont have to be a cock about it. someday youll be in this sort of situation and then you wont laugh.
User avatar #31 - mutzaki (03/30/2014) [-]
No, you don't seem to understand. Asking someone to see it from someone else's side is being sympathetic with that person. That's literally what that means. When someone basically says "hey, this guy is probably going through a lot of shit in his life, so give him a break," that is EXACTLY what being sympathetic with that person means.

So, maybe it's someone else who could use some comprehensive reading in their life. And please don't try to challenge me on this, because I really don't feel like teaching some kid online about simple concepts that he's just too stubborn to admit he's wrong about.

And, sweetie, I'm not going to be in a situation like the guy in the .gif. Why? Because even if I somehow ended up piss poor and in need of financial aid for myself or even my family, I would never stoop so low as to rob someone. In fact, most homeless people aren't criminals of this sort of crime.
Not that it's likely I'm ever going to need to become that desperate for cash in the first place.

also the point is, you can apply your job logic to the military. A tour of duty is a set amount of time for any one man or woman to serve in an active role, either on a ship or in a war zone. A tour of duty has a midterm leave, so 6 months in you get to go home so you dont go nuts, but your still in your tour which still lasts 12 months
User avatar #174 - tenacioustroll (03/17/2014) [-]
how can you be on udty when you are at home makes no fucking sense bro. when you leave a palce ANY place you have phusically left and are not there any more you cnt count the time at home as work.

imagine you are a construction contractor and get a 6 month contract to build something. You're not working at night, you're not staying at the worksite, you go home. but you still have a 6 month contract. If you can't understand that concept, then you're probably retarded and I can't explain any more clearly
#179 - Ken M (03/17/2014) [-]
but if you leave the country and stop building you will not have a contract anymore. BOOM.....in your face stranger.

but on the tour of duty, it would still say 12 months. If you're on tour for 12 months, they don't subtract your shore leave of 2 weeks and make u stay 14 more days to make up for it. You're still on your tour even when you're on shore leave, it still counts. look at the top rated comments.

just because he came back on shore leave, doesn't shorten the time he spent on his tour. 10 days of leave doesn't negate the 12 months away. The news source probly just saw that his tour was 12 months and automatically assumed that means hes just gonna be away for 12 months with no leave at all
User avatar #164 - WhiteReaper (03/17/2014) [-]
then its not 12 months there because those 10days would have to be subtracted off. lets say he came back fr a month. then it would be 11 months spent out there instead of 12. if you have 5 apples and eat 3 how much do you have left?
