Actually I read plenty of books, I have over $5,000 worth of books.

but I wouldn't sit around with a group of friends taking turns reading characters lines while laughing like a bunch of retards while drooling on ourselves.

Because invisible walls make for great story telling, m i rite? Besides, if you hate D&D so much, perhaps consider finding a channel where they post images and have discussions more to your liking rather than rag on people who have different interests than you.

Because you just make shit up on the fly, there are no rules, that's why it's different
#137 - Vincenzo (10/14/2014) [-]
Yeah, all of the source book which detail how checks are to be made, what bonuses to apply and when, those aren't rules. Even if a group decides to change those rules, guess what, there's still rules that govern how the game is to be played, it isn't just "I attack, assume it hits and kill it." the game is structured to decide how things are done generally. The only real exception is if the players want to do something that isn't detailed, at that point the only difference between video games and D&D is that in video games you will run into an invisible wall or other stupid mechanic to railroad you back to where they think you should go. In D&D, if you have a decent DM they'll figure out a way to decide if you succeed. How is that a bad thing?
