It's a tough concept to grapple with

I don't really mind them. Misguided isn't the right word. It varies from person to person, different people are devoted in different ways. Most of the time it's like watching someone look for their sunglasses when they're on top of their head but not being able to tell them. Sometimes it's like listening to someone talk in their sleep. Rarely, with people I would probably call misguided, it's like watching a child talk about their imaginary friend. Sorry to be so cryptic about it, but it's the best way I can explain it.

Before you or anyone reading this gets offended by that last one, it only ever applies to people who are just idiots in general, nothing to do with the subject. The kind of people who don't even know anything about the religion they're talking about and still think everyone else should think the same way they do.

I certainly do agree with the entire 'clinging' portion of the video.

Nah man, it's cool

I don't know really, it's kind of hard to explain. I was raised a Lutheran, baptized, confirmed, the whole deal. One day about 2 years back I was on this site, arguing for the existence of god. Then I found myself going to incredible lengths to rationalize how god could manipulate his surroundings, and I had the thought that maybe he just doesn't exist. Of course I'd had the thought before, but I'd never really believe it.

So I started looking at the problem that way, eventually decided to identify as an atheist. I was adamant that god didn't exist. For some reason, though, that didn't make me feel any better. I didn't feel wrong, but it didn't feel good. If I was to put it into words, it felt like I was still tethered to the ground. I went around like that until one day I just separated myself from it all entirely. I can't describe what it was like, I've tried. I just kind of realized where I was. That was about a year ago

A couple months back I stumbled upon this guy who puts it into words pretty well. youtu.be/FlcFhDSVEug?t=2m4s It was a lot like the bit he talks about with the monk and the pail of water

Not going to lie, the video was kind of hard to understand for me haha.
ALthough, some of it did make a lot of sense though, I understand your view more clearly now!

Just another question, if you can be bothered answering.
How'd you feel about other beliefs? And more specifically, the individuals themselves who chose to follow them? Do you feel they're misguided, slightly disillusioned? Or just holding on to what makes themselves feel comfort (as stated in the video)?
