- Takes online IQ test, trusts results... seems about right
Anon is Autistic
who says it was on online test?
Yeah those online tests are bogus.
Took one at 13 and my results were 157.
Took a real one at 16 and got just under 130.
Not that that makes any difference by the way. I'm dense as fuck.
People have their areas of skill and interest. Lacking in one area does make you any worse in the areas you are good in.
IQ is a shitty method of determining intelligence.
It's literally just your ability to identify patterns, which in my opinion isn't very useful in everyday life, or even for most academic purposes.
The only thing I'd pay I'm above average at is reading comprehension because I've always done exceedingly well on reading comprehension exams.
And reading comprehension, eh? I'm sure Proofreader is a valid job title inside of publishing companies and whatnot.
See you'd think that, but no.
I don't catch mistakes, I just glance right over them and still understood what is being said.
Even though I'm still recovering my lost highschool diploma, I took a standardized test and got a perfect score in reading comprehension recently. Tied with a few of the top people at my college in that even though I'm still technically a highschool drop out. (Not that that was my fault.)
It basically just means I'm good with complex reading material like diagrams and the like.
Hmm... Being that good with comprehension should be a good thing. But, my tired mind is struggling to come up with a practical use for that unto itself. Maybe in conjunction with your second or third best skill or one of your main interests?
It's a useful thing even if it's really the only thing I can boast about.
I mean it would suck to be an idiot AND have trouble reading manuals and diagrams.
True enough. A practical application, especially one that pays well enough would just be better. Icing on the cake, as it were.
Yeah well... You don't get paid for reading.
Especially when you really don't like it very much.
Well, it might not be a high end STEM field, but you could look into being an archivist.
Some IQ tests are more thorough than others. But yeah, it's pretty much a base guideline to work from in terms of figuring how intelligent you really are. Just like BMI is the base guideline that you than work from to determine if you are overweight or not.
Both are terms of measurement that generally lack details and context with which to compare. IQ has to be worked from in terms of application, wisdom and so forth. BMI you have to then take into consideration muscle mass and bone density.
IQ should not be used as a hard measure of worth in the least. Just as "Adult" is not a badge of maturity, responsibility, ability or respect. Social usage of things skews perceptions a lot.
