ThePirateBay, Kat, and Kickass are the safest I've seen. I think the last two are the same though. They are constantly changing their domain extension (like from .cr to .ph to .tt, etc). It's a good idea to be familiar with ThePirateBay's/KickAss's website layout so that you can spot fakes just in case. I've come across a few fakes, but they were different website names, not extensions like .com or .net.

Looks pretty legit. You should be ok. You generally just see what has had a lot of downloads, good comments, and rating if the site has it. You just torrent usually through utorrent and watch it on any media player of your choice. VLC is the popular choice but I prefer KMP. Don't get confused by the names just being initials, they're just media players

I like the layout of the player more, it doesn't look like it is from the 90s. The increments for forwarding and rewinding a video are better. simply pressing forward and back go forward or back by 5 seconds, ctrl + arrow key is 30 sec and alt + arrow key is 1 minute. VLC is fine, it's just a personal preference. I always have both downloaded on the off chance that something might not run on KMP that can on VLC. It happens extremely rarely but it can happen.
