I got a 25 dollar gift card once. Some gift cards work just right out of the box. Mine did. For pending authorization you read the back of the thing and it should also come with like a little perice of paper with instructions. You need to make an account and confirm the card to activate it.

I don't think it's possible without a root. The file still might be in your download folder tho you should check that too.
