The politicians didn't make Detroit, Chicago, or Cleveland tough. Years of gang control and a combination of a prosperous drug and gun trade in the cities did..
Because of our laws it is very hard to take down gangs and large trade systems like this without breaking the law or go against our own rules.
Everyone outside of America think our laws are strict and wouldn't allow this, but if you live in America you realize that our laws often protect the criminal rather than the average citizen.

Actually Detroit's decline can be traced to the collapse of the US automotive industry (and US-based manufacturing in general), with the recession in 2007 being the final nail in the coffin.

The people making DotA 2 wanted to use Warcraft 3 assets to do so. Blizzard said no, but Valve countersued and won the right to do so anyway. The only catch was that they couldn't use the same textures and stuff, but basically DotA 2 is still 50% Warcraft 3 under everything.
They also sued and held back Heroes of the Storm's development because it was prototyped as 'Blizzard DotA", and Valve claimed copyright on the name DotA. More trouble than I figure it was worth, if they weren't also slowing down the progress of a rival MOBA.

if you think that the carries in league are bad, in dota 2, 1 hard carry can completely wipe out the other team with no problem under the right circumstances. league of legends is better in that sense, where even super powerful carries like katarina can eventually become outclassed if the game goes on for long enough

Smite is actually really easy to get into, and complicated at high levels granted by the time you get to high levels you already understand everything so it's not complicated anymore . The 3rd Person view makes it a lot more intense than something like Dota or League because you can't just right click and walk away, you always have to control. The Jungle game can become fucking ridiculous if 2 good players are up against each other
If you're on PC then try it since it's free and a simple download unlike League what the fuck riot , if you have an X1 you can get every character forever plus some free skins/gems for $30 one time, or wait until it goes free next month. Either way I recommend it

Problem is that in order for "intelligent design" to fit the bill as a theory instead of theist speculation, youd have to abandon every religious text that contradicts evolution anyways, effectively dismissing your faith anyways and making it complete science once again, but with a new theory, and one that, if in a billion years mankind can finally prove, takes the spiritual aspect away from it.
#135 - ninjaspartan (05/23/2015) [-]
To be fair, there's no such thing as evidence of the origins of the universe. It's more like "The Big Bang Hypothesis." Nothing today really states how the known universe came to exist, just how old we can guess it is now, until that changes in a few years again.
#141 - ninjaspartan (05/23/2015) [-]
It goes without saying that that expansion started somewhere, no? And it's stated that life followed that expansion, yeah? So to speak, that's a considerable origin. And so to speak, most scientists literally do not believe in anything beyond the observable universe now a day. So technically the Big Bang theory is out of date now. Besides, there's a difference between proof and suggestive evidence.
#144 - testaburger (05/23/2015) [-]
In the same way evolution isn't about the origin of life, big bang cosmology isn't about the origin of the universe.
"most scientists literally do not believe in anything beyond the observable universe now a day"
You're gonna have to back that up with something, because that's a big claim.
"Besides, there's a difference between proof and suggestive evidence."
Yes. Proofs don't belong in science, but in math.
#146 - ninjaspartan (05/23/2015) [-]
Well that more or less backs my previous claim that there isn't any evidence for the origin of life, at least not now.
Er, I'm not sure what to give you besides a link here, it's not exactly information that the Internet provided me:
Scratch that, my mobile doesn't seem to want to paste anything. Anyways, Phys.org has some stuff on it in the Quantom Physics section. That's the last place I was told to look by a friend of mine who is a Physics major.
So, er, is there not proof of evolution? Last I checked evolution was still science... With math incorporated, of course, but still science.
#149 - testaburger (05/23/2015) [-]
Now you're talking about the origin of life.
It's not the same as the origin of the universe.
And "life" is not relevant to the big bang theory, at all. Life is an entirely other field of study. The two have nothing to do with each other, aside from the fact that life exists in this universe.
Depending on your definition of proof.
In the strictest sense, you can only prove something (As in, this is absolutely correct) in math.
Like 2+2 = 4- This is a fact.
Science deals in evidence. There's plenty of evidence to support evolution, but we don't know 100% that how we think it happens, is how it actually happens.
It could be pixies doing it. There's no evidence that it is, but it could be. Hence "evidence" instead of "proof"
Now, math is a constructed system. As long as you're following the rules of the system, you can prove things definitively. "A shoe is a shoe", essentially.
#160 - ninjaspartan (05/23/2015) [-]
Well, either or, there's proof of neither of them, but evidence for both, and both contradict the Bible's Genisis along with plenty of other religion's texts. So to sum up my origional point, you can't be religious and believe in evolution at the same time. Maybe spiritual, but not religious.
So basically science + proof = math?
I mean, I guess.

I can't speak for all Christians, but from my experience I believe you are right about how people view the bible; a good majority interpret the bible very loosely, and have no problem putting faith in both religion and science.
Could be a younger generation thing though, idk.
#59 - Sethorein (05/23/2015) [-]
My mum was taught that dinosaurs were a test of our faith... it's definitely the younger generation. Though i feel real bad for a couple of my small town fundamentalist friends. Beet christians youll ever meet, exemplify all the best morals of religion. But they also believe gayness is a choice, the earth is 6000 years old. The biblical flood happened, etc.
Most folks dismiss em right quick for that.
#186 - mrforte (05/23/2015) [-]
In effect, it does. In science, people must have faith that their observations are correct, you must have faith that previously defined theories and laws are correct, and you must have faith behind the people that define the laws. The fact that scientific ideas are constantly being disproved and revised, despite the previous belief that they were true, shows that there is a high probability that many of the ideas we take for granted may be outright false, and yet knowing this scientists continue on as if they are true, they have faith in their observations.
