Sony told you everything about their console and games where as Microsoft held back a little. and all of a sudden people think that what Microsoft showed at the reveal is all that will exist. you can't really say which is better (at least) until E3.

when they revealed the ps4 the also said something about emulators, and like when you buy ps2 games over playstation network it's going to be emulated like you are playing a ps2. Now that probably means that the only way you will be able to play ps3 is to buy them over playstation network and have them emulated.

As others have said, neither are backwards compatible, although Sony's going to offer a streaming service like Netflix with which you can play used games.

It is complicated for used games. As of right now there are a few possibilities to used games:

1) They are allowed, but since every games needs to be installed, a small fee might be used in order to play them on other consoles. Note that this was based on rumors and not confirmed. Some reports are saying this is not true

2) The official FAQ says that they can be traded and resold, so it might be normal as it was before

They're not backwards compatible from what i've been hearing. nothing official. But in the end they'll probably just release a few games on the marketplace from older gens and make you pay for them again.
