Just finished Demon Souls and while it's not great, I felt more for Ostrava and Biorr than I did for most DS2 characters.

Since the others didn't answer it correctly: Only the execute from Relic Shield is melee only. You still share the gold and use a charge if you get the last hit on a minion normally.
#13 - xwhitewingx (10/29/2014) [-]
basically, Fotm active > Talisman active, plus more gold share with the adc = more wards.
thresh's aa have bonus ap damage (E's passive), and his main passive, Damnation, (collecting souls) adds ar/ap makes it easy to last hitting minions.

It also makes you slower so you can't run away from predators, and strains your metabolism to the point of organ failure (because your organs have only evolved to work effectively for a certain body mass, so going way over that mass is like trying to pull a tractor-trailer with a Smart Car). It also throws off your endocrine and insulin systems, which results in things like diabetes.

There's a difference between HAVING fat and BEING fat. HAVING fat is desirable; BEING fat is a death sentence.
#19 - John Cena (10/26/2014) [-]
5'2 and 190 pounds isn't somewhat fat, it's just fat.
To get into the evolutionary side of it, yes, being able to retain more fat used to be an advantage it's why most humans still crave fattier foods over something like carrot sticks , but that was back when we still had to chase our own food down and kill it with a rock. In the modern world, calories are so plentiful that this trait is no longer an advantage. Instead it leads to health problems and an early death.

It's a bit more complicated than League, I admit, because not everyone has a dash and what not. But there's also a lot less to consider in Dota than in League in terms of players.

While they may not purchase the same items, each player is limited to what their character can do. There's no flash, no 'summoner levels', and no special runes they can buy to make themselves do 100 more damage at level 1.

Learning each hero can be a task, but I'd say you should at least try it a few times. Play a hero that is simple like Lich, Wraith King, Tidehunter, or Keeper of the Light. All those heroes are pretty good in any game and you can use them to learn what other heroes, simply by experiencing it. That's just my opinion, though.

Either way, you should do what you enjoy more, but I wouldn't push Dota away because of a few hard games at the start. League is the same way for someone starting it, and I find Dota more enjoyable than League myself. Obviously people differ from me, but I almost quit Dota myself because of how hard it was at the start...

Having some friends to play with helps a lot, though, especially if you're all new and can help each other learn the heroes. It's more team based in Dota as well, becaus eeach player, usually, has their own role to fill in team fights... Unlike in League, at least in my experience, where most of the game is determined by the jungler's ganks and how well the 'important' characters did.

Sorry for the long comment, just figured I'd throw in my two cents. d(' ')z
#23 - Sneakypeaky (10/18/2014) [-]
The higher up you get in LoL rank wise the more important teamwork becomes. It gets much more difficult to hard carry, and at the professional level pretty much impossible now days.
#35 - bluemagebrilly (10/18/2014) [-]
Oh, definitely. The same thing is in Dota since your 'MMR' gets raised up the more you play, and the less likely you are to just throw yourself into a team and destroy them because they don't know what they're doing. A lot of people, around my level, are very alert and save their teammates with things a new person wouldn't even think about, since they were focusing on themsevles.

It's hard to really 'beat the game' by yourself, too, because you lose gold if you die. Having your team distract or defend so the carry can farm safely is very important the higher up you get, though not so much in the early stages.

I was pretty high up in League back in the day and had to deal with a lot of teamwork that I wasn't quite used to at the time, so I definitely agree it does get 'harder' the more you play... But at the same time, I felt the high-up games in League were too focused on the Meta-game.

In Dota, everything is pretty random. Sure, there's the whole "safe-lane carry" thing, but some carries can go to the 'hard' lane pretty easily and still do well. It's more about who you're against rather than what is best. And there's not always a jungler, that was one of the key points of annoyance I had with League.

Always a jungler, all the time. That's pretty rare in Dota, especially since they nerfed the Jungle a bit a few patches ago. Still viable for some heroes, but definitely not super common.

Anywho~ Sorry for the second wall of text.

I tried to play dota, but I stopped really fast. I didn't felt like I'm doing this to get something. Having all champions unlocked was one of these things. In LoL you have to play a lot to unlock them all, and somehow it feels rewarding when you unlock another champion [for ip].
#13 - bluemagebrilly (10/17/2014) [-]
I have the opposite problem.

In League, it felt like I was super restricted in what I could do because all of the champs were sealed away unless it was 'free' or I spent 10 hours of gameplay unlocking a single one. Not only that, but there was the 'runes' you had to buy with IP as well, furthering restricting me from really playing how I wanted to.

Then there's the fact that every other week a new champ would come out, be around 6300 IP, and be amazing for the first few weeks ... and I'd have to buy it so I could actually do something. And then they'd get nerfed and a new one would come out.

Dota is far less restrictive in that regard. There's no 'ip', there's no runes or summoner levels, and each hero is right there for you to play. They change things, big things, here and there but that's like every six months and the newest hero and the one before it had a few months between them.

And both are still very viable.

You can play whatever you want, however you want, and the only thing to spend money on is vanity things that you can find randomly by chance.

Stopping because of the heroes being unlocked is just... silly. It might be a big difference compared to League, but it's not that mind blowing, in my opinion.

You should play whatever you feel is right, though, but I feel you should give Dota another chance. It's a bit to get used to, but I feel that having all the heroes unlocked actually makes it more enjoyable and 'free' to play.

To me it's just gives me some objective to play. Playing repetitive game without some kind of objective will soon be boring for me. If LoL had unlocked everything I would probably stop playing 2 years ago. I used to love play 1v1 custom matches but since Riot removed ip for playing games where there are less than half of required players I haven't played one such game.
#40 - bluemagebrilly (10/18/2014) [-]
Objective to play? I don't feel that way with that game. If League was a single player game and you had to unlock the characters, then it'd be an objective. But it just felt like a restriction to keep people from playing all their characters. I felt that those who played longer weren't just more experienced, they had more access to things I couldn't have.

The real objective is to just play and have fun. Winning is also a prime objective for those kinds of games. I mean, the objective of the entire game play is to destroy the enemy Ancient/Nexus so you win the game.

But in contrast to what you have said, I think there are plenty of objectives like that in Dota. Sure, you don't 'unlock heroes', but you can play different game modes, including 1v1 I think, and unlock vanity items like a new hat.

It's up to you, of course. We both play for different things I suppose.

"The real objective is to just play and have fun. Winning is also a prime objective for those kinds of games. I mean, the objective of the entire game play is to destroy the enemy Ancient/Nexus so you win the game. "

I agree but I feel like I would just put that game down 2 years ago that way. 2/3 of my games are coop game just to get first win of the day bonus asap.

But everyone have other reasons to play.
#42 - bluemagebrilly (10/18/2014) [-]
If you don't mind me saying, that sounds very silly to me. Playing just to get the first win of the day bonus, just to unlock stuff... Technically you'd get it faster if you played more, but...

I dunno. I've never really been one of those 'unlock achievements above all else' kind of people. Just playing the game has been enough for me. I mean, achievements are nice, but they also don't restrict you in anyway. They're just kind of a 'good job' thing.

If that was all it was to League, then it'd be more interesting, at least to me.

Girl Genius, loving it. Currently at late 2008. You have good taste in webcomics with good stories.

Just to make it a bit more even, I'd recommend Doctor McNinja. The names says it all really. It got good stories, a bit more episodic than the ones you recommended. drmcninja.com/archives/comic/0p1/
