It is not like you are gonna be the first ever human in history to try alcohol.

Which precisely proves that the term "scientific spirit" is inadequate.

People can see people drink. People can see people have a good time while drinking, they can see people puking and hungover. They can see people drinking moderately, and they can see people dying of alcohol poisoning.

So why the fuck would they need to try it in order to "see how it is" when all the evidence is laid out before them?

Having a scientific spirit implies having the capability to infer from evidence, not throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks.

Yep, and because it went so well for everyone before you, where's the downside right?

Man, it is totally okay if you drink and if you like it. But that doesn't make you an open-minded person. It just ... makes you a person that drinks and is okay with the dangers it can hold.

Some other people are not okay with taking this "risk". Me for instance.
I just don't see how drinking or smoking could benefit my life and therefor I do not need to invest in it anymore.
I've been drinking and smoking til I was 19. But the more time passes (2 years by now) the more I see how this is not necessary for me at all. And what's bad about this thinking?

You have tried it now. You have seen how it feels for yourself and decided that you don't like it. You are open minded.

It's pretty damn hard to be "open-minded" about alcohol when all you've seen from a young age is it ruining other people's lives...

Totally understand your case. I don't think it is the majority though.
