What you're talking about is common law. Statutory law like we live under now, where a few hundred millionaires in the capitol make thousands of new rules each year, is a different story. "The law" that most people know is just an opinion with a gun behind it, and changes at the whim of whichever millionaire won 51% of the most recent vote. But natural law and common law are concerned with real crime and rights, and how we deal with thieves, rapists, murderers, and defrauders. It represents the evolution of human civilization over thousands of years, and is a far cry from the red tape-ridden bureaucratic nightmare of today. And as for changing the law, I think we actually have very little say in it. I mean, our legislators don't even know who voted for them, so how can they even claim to represent anyone?

User avatar #285 - Tazdingo (04/24/2014) [-]
Law is a convention. Civilised people govern their communities by passing and enforcing laws. If you disagree with laws you can apply to change them or live in a community that does not enforce such laws.

Actually, that was America.

France saw stuff happening, and really didn't like it. So they were ready to surrender immediately when stuff started to happen.

I get what you're trying to say, but it really doesn't apply here. One was an act of war, the other is a bunch of people afraid a radical group that makes no sense will move forward THROUGH the true feminists, and into the government or something.

This is designed to cut weight, not gain. If you want to gain, add a cup of rice or 1 potato with each meal and 30g of Casein Protein, and eggs! oh and fish oil!
User avatar #716 - Tazdingo (04/17/2014) [-]
If you're a 130 pound teenage girl with a desire to drastically lose weight, 1500 would be the first low amount you could consume without drying up and getting bed ridden of malnourishment. An adult that sits at his desk for 14 hours straight every day still has 1800 calorie base metabolic rate, not counting the energy used for what little activity he does. If a man would work out even 1-2 hours per week, resulting in somewhere around a 2400 calorie burn per day, and eat anywhere less than 1900 calories, his body would not lose weight, bbecause the starvation would cause his body to panic and enter a crisis mode where it tries to conserve as much fat as possible because it thinks you're going to die of malnourishment (since energy is so scarce) so it tries to conserve what little food it has left in it. And then not only that, but your food is expended so fast that the body doesn't get enough amino acids for it to keep your organs running, so now it actually starts canibalizing muscle so it can survive, all of this resulting in more fat and less muscle.

Good luck cutting like that.

These are all suggestions. Your working on you body, not a cake. Also for Taz, this is for weightloss not extreme bulking. I've easily gone days with about 800 calories. Usually its not on purpose but due to time constraints. My brother did a 500 calorie a day diet and it worked wonders but not long after stopping the diet he got back a lot of the weight.
User avatar #207 - Kulthozuer (04/16/2014) [-]
Under consuming calories is never good. The nutrients in your food are important and you will have a difficult time consuming all of them with a restrictive under calorie diet. Supplements for nutrients aren't nearly as effective as consuming nutrients in your diet. Also under consuming food causes your body to make up for it by holding on to weight more and using less energy.

If you want to lose weight you should eat an appropriate amount of calories + no exercise but actually exercise. That way you are consuming all the necessary nutrients

Example:
You are a male adult standing 5' 8" tall with a medium frame. Your ideal body weight according to the Hamwi method is 138 - 169 lbs, centering around 154 lbs if you have a medium frame (Which most people do)

Your total daily energy expenditure will change depending on how much you exercise but your basal metabolic rate wont.
You should just use the total daily energy expenditure for a lower activity factor that way you are still reaching your basal metabolic rate and getting all your nutrients and you fill feel very awake, healthy but you are consuming more calories than you burn.
I.E. you are consuming around 2065 calories but consuming 2600.

This is all assuming you are not obese which becomes a different story and you should actually consume less calories than for your size.

Also realize that most body builders and professional athletes are unhealthy because they weight far to much for their frame size and they have too small body fat percentages. That is why they develop a lot of problems later in life. Having huge overdeveloped muscles does not make you healthy.

TL;DR Lose weight very slowly and with exercise and not extreme restrictive diets because it will make you much healthier. If you want serious nutritional advice consult a registered dietitian and don't just believe what meat heads say online because they usually know nothing about health.

500 calories a day? so what? he didn't eat/drink ANYTHING at all?

you know how much is 500 calories? well you know the tiny little bread crumbs? about the size of an ant's ass? yea well i believe that's already like 500 or more each.

if you, however, mean 500 000 calories a day, then you can literally drink non-diet coke too
User avatar #174 - niteghost (04/16/2014) [-]
Lol, no. His lunch was steamed vegetables. Dinner was a Lean Cuisine or something like that. I didn't see him eat much more than that but even if he did, it worked.
#180 - Common Pepe (04/16/2014) [-]
please learn how much 500 calories actually is...

i think you meant 500kcal, which is 500 000 calories, which again, is easily doable with drinking coke too
User avatar #183 - niteghost (04/16/2014) [-]
Sorry. Yes that is what I meant. I'm Murican and all of our food nutrition labels say calories instead of following the rest of the world and saying kilo-calories.
#187 - Common Pepe (04/16/2014) [-]
oh i'm sorry, i didn't know you don't have kcal over there.

We actually do use kcals, they're just called "calories" on food labels. I don't know why it's done that way but I suppose it really doesn't make a difference to the average person.
#637 - LaughAtYou (04/17/2014) [-]
Its done that to make it a lot easier for the public. Calorie is a real measure which is a lot less then a kilo-calorie.

Kilo-calorie was renamed in america and where I live Australia (im sure other places aswell) to make it easier on the consumers to work out how much they are eating. It provides a smaller number to work with, easier to add, aswell as being easier to say calorie rather then "i hate 2000 kilo-calories today"

Christians were told by Christ to convert the different peoples of the world. So the priest doesn't have a choice but to tell him of these things. It's called evangelizing.
