All of this discussion about quality aside, being a VA sounds like cool digs. Must be fun.
And agreed. Video game dubs always seem to be of better quality too.
We do have a few good English VAs, and a few popular ones, like the guy who dubbed Nero.

At least they're supporting the industry. But dubs will never be for me. Once I learn the language, I'm just going to watch the RAWs. If I ever buy it'll be Japanese BDs.

I forgot to mention that but it seems obvious. It's probably why dubs fees so hollow. You have to adjust to the lips, and in a nutshell the results often pretty gay.

In other words 90% of the time you cannot match the VA quality of the original.
No offense to you, but this ought to be taken as a given. It irks me when people say there is no difference in quality between subs and dubs. The originals always seem to have 5x the emotion and the lip syncing much more natural. Countless other reasons. The Cowboy Bebop dub is one dub that I can say was fucking fantastic.

Don't forget Samurai Champloo.
And FMA.
And I really like IGPX for what it is

i'd say the dubs for dragonball z were pretty good, most people i know prefer the dubs over the subs for obvious reasons can't stand goku's voice, seeing as an old woman voices him and his family

The lip syncing is also more natural because that is whats called "Pre-lay" animation, as in the voices are recorded first and then the animation is done AROUND the voice actors performance. In dubbing we are engaging in ADR or "Automatic Dialogue Replacement" there is no change in the animation to accommodate foreign performances.
