Well yes, but to be fair, I am part of the actual 1% (I believe it is $250,000+ a year) and my family lives very comfortably as well. I think the statistic they are referring to is also the fact that they highest 1% (not the highest .01%) own 40% of the wealth, and the highest 10% own 60%. The second one is less absurd though. They are on wall street, to my understanding, because that is the place where a lot of the "bad" 1%ers work.

I see your point, but again, I don't think they hate JUST the bankers.

I'm sorry the ay you phrased your previous statements I thought your message was completely different. It seems we have similar political views, but would you mind explaining why the "We are the 99%" phrase is inaccurate?
User avatar #37 - Squirrelfighter (11/20/2011) [-]
Assuming that 1% of the American population are the super rich, that would mean the "super rich" are 3,000,000 people (US population is approx 300,000,000). The reality is, the super rich are about .01% of the population (3,000 people).

Meaning that 99.99% of the American people support the super rich. Which makes us the definition of sheep.

Ironically, "we are the 99%" is an inaccurate slogan created to simplify the concept so that the unintelligent would understand the point. Essentially, the protestors created a broad generalized concept to attract the masses. The exact thing the people they were protesting against do on a daily basis.

Yeah, taxes suck! Let's not have any infrastructure, roads, military, social security, healthcare, welfare, public education, regulations on products to protect the consumer, regulations on products to standardize measurements and wages. LET'S LIVE IN ANARCHY, BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT SHOULDN'T TAKE MY GODDAMN MONEY.

Oh, and btw, a judge can still be paid off like any other individual with a political agenda. Whether you view a judge as a "politican" or not makes no difference.
User avatar #32 - Squirrelfighter (11/20/2011) [-]
And I'm for taxation, but I'm also for taxation of the big companies being protested against. That's kinda part of the Occupy movement's point, protest the unfair leveling of taxes on the poor and middle class, while the richest get richer.

That's the basis of that insanely inaccurate "We are the 99%" line comes from

Just because someone makes an unpopular decision doesn't mean they're a corrupt politician. That's childish thinking.

Clearly you have never been to a rock concert. A large amount of people in a relatively small area even slightly rowdy is going to do some damage. It is inevitable...Ever been to Disney world? Same thing. Sure these businesses are not used to it but regardless of damage something must be done about our government. In fact something should have been done 6 years ago...we may be too late to even start anything, but at least we wont be able to say we didn't try. Hopefully Occupy will expand its protest to even more important factors rather that stop wall street. They should start protesting the protect IP, the reversion back to gold and silver standard as the nations only legal currency as defined by our Constitution. There is a million more options to protest.

The money corporations get from taxpayers is for a good or a service. That money they have earned, that's how capitalism in its purest form works. They do this, you pay them that, thepeople who do it best make the most money. That has nothing to do with the protests.

No one in the United States is enslaved to anyone but the IRS. You pay taxes, you die, those are life's only guarantees for citizenry.

To be fair, German people in 1939 were so desperate for salvation and someone to blame, they'd have tried to exterminate rocks if someone told them they were the cause of their plight.

And the biggest difference is that the rubbish/hygenic cluster fuck are right there they're visible and easy to address. The fractured economics and ideological doctrines that are tearing the United States apart are harder to address.

Also: A judge is not a politician, he's a judiciary. They were originally going to let them come back and continue to protest after they cleaned the park up. But when its actual condition became apparent the judicial banhammer fell.
