Your lungs wouldn't inflate because the drink is blocking any air getting in. Your chest is still expanding to create the sucking pressure (negative space would essentially be created in your lungs providing the pressure but they wouldn't expand). Do you expand your cheeks to drink from a straw? That would be the only way to suck liquid up without using your lungs and even then that would be minimal and incredibly difficult (I don't think there are any muscles that function to expand your cheeks).

No, my cheeks don't noticeably move at all. In fact, I can breathe through my nose as I drink from a straw or smoke a cigar, and nothing in my mouth goes into my lungs. It's literally just drawing in without the use of your lungs. It's not difficult to do.

The only way to get suction with a straw is to breath in. Isn't that how it works? How else could suction be produced?
Maybe I've been doing it wrong...

Well, I just make suction with my mouth. A dumb thing to relate it to, but makes sense, is like giving someone a hickey. You can't breath, it's just making suction with your cheeks. My lungs don't inflate while I drink from a straw.

But... but
With a straw you are inhaling into your lungs but your tongue leaves just enough room for air to pass but not liquid. Smoke is like air.
I guess it's just a bit of practice. Had to breath in smoke once and it burned.

Well in this instance, the killer approached the cops claiming to be a cop. He was dismissed by the officers (who were supposed to be on the lookout for the guy in the first place). The killer later can back, told lozito that he was going to kill him and then stabbed him in the face. Lozito then fought the guy and took him down.

Sure, cops are not obligated to protect you, but if these guys had been doing their jobs in the first place, it's unlikely that this situation would have happened.

Here's my bitchy political response to that:

Money is just paper. Nothing more, nothing less. We might as well just be writing IOU's. Becoming more dependent on something so completely valueless is totally stupid, and it will eventually bring about our downfall unless we devise a new, better system.

I don't mean to offend. I just think about shit on a deep enough level to piss people off... Sorry. ^u^

It's a representation of effort, that's the value of our currency. Gold use to be what we used prior to this and it has little to no practical applications other than being aesthetically pleasing. We attribute value to what we want, nothing has any inherent value it's something we as a sentient species created to function in a society.
User avatar #63 - sekeido (03/01/2013) [-]
That's a pretty good reason to go back to a system of trading goods, isn't it?
#66 - Moosoulja (03/01/2013) [-]
It'd be near impossible to maintain modern society on a barter system.

representation of effort to you, to the banks its an investment elsewhere that they just sit on, but if they lose it well tough luck for you the banks will get bailed but you wont see a pretty penny.
