I was raggin on you by bringing Shadow into it. The spread of Christianity played a very small role as the main causes were barbarian tribes which killed many monks then converted. The spread of Christianity actually helped get Europe out of the dark ages due to the Crusades which brought all the old knowledge back and the Christianization of the northern European warlike pagans.

Except not, Christian monasteries helped the dark ages by keeping records of everything and having thinkers. The only cause of the Dark Ages are the Germanic tribes and the massive diseases. You should delete your profile because your idiocy is an insult to Shadow's greatness.

Right, and the spread of Christianity had nothing to do with it.

Hey now, you can rag on me, but leave Shadow out of it ;)

I revert back to my previous statement:

Either do something to fix it,
Or stop whining at us.
User avatar #79 - ShadowPrince (05/11/2012) [-]
Right, I'm whining because I responded to your post to answer a question and deal with your pointless claims. Gotcha.

Also, we are doing something to fix it. We're making scientific advances.

Well then, now that you're free to science all you want,
Invent a time machine and go fix it.
Otherwise, what use is whining doing you?
You want an apology from the church or something?
What?
User avatar #72 - ShadowPrince (05/11/2012) [-]
While that would be cool, that's completely beside the point.

Simply stating a fact (dark ages ruining scientific progress) does not warrant you attacking it's imaginary chain of logic.

Also, you asked a question, I answered.

Actually, the fall of Rome caused the Dark Ages. Rome was defeated by germanic and french tribes. Blame Germany and France for it.
User avatar #77 - ShadowPrince (05/11/2012) [-]
I'd do that too, it's probably a bunch of reasons. However, christianity did put in place an anti-intellectual mentality which brought it about.

I was never afforded any special privlages, so there's that argument gone.

And what's more, I'm not complaining about persecution, opression, shunning or any of that stuff.

I'm only pointing out a logical fallicy.

If you're christian then you sure as hell were.

No fallacy because it's true. The dark ages crippled scientific progress.
