I also read that the Mongols wore silk shirts, and European arrows would get tangled in the shirt, so the Mongols would just pull them back out with little to no harm to them, and they were seen as really powerful, which is a real mood dampener

Only if you include the horse into the ability to range an enemy, but they had more power without question. The defining factor between the longbow and the recurve composite bow; was that the composite bow struggled in specific climates. But the longbow was slightly more versatile. The Mongolians would have easily overtaken any Longbow regiment because they road like the wind and could shoot like the wind. A Briton with a longbow would be terrified by the shower of arrows coming from the target they could not hit.

From what I know, the mongol compound bow had a lot of kick for its size but is definitely weaker than a full sized longbow in poundage due to it being designed for horseback.

The Mongols tried invading Europe at one occasion as far as I know, but were stopped by the Hungarians I believe and some time after Genghis Khan died so it put a bit of a stopper to that. (this is my limited knowledge about it really, so mighta been more to both points.)

Compound is a extremely different bow to the Mongolian Composite. Atleast use goggle to do a little research before you enter into a historical discussion. Like really the Hungarians? Its so easy, the interwebs is right infront of your face.

He is right you know, I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss him, about the invasion I mean. Wikipedia does confirm that the Mongols invaded both Poland and Hungary with evident success but turned back because of the death of Kublai Khan (so everyone wanted to try and get power).
My main thing here is that these don't feel like particularly exemplary European powers, especially during this time period, so while the argument went that had Kublai Khan not died the Mongols would gave advanced further uncontested, I like to think they'd have had a much harder time with the Holy Roman Empire and France.

And excuse me then, they stopped in Hungary before the Khan died and his generals rushed back to secure their power.
