That just means that you have to calculate both the plus and the minus answer to the equation.
so you would calculate both:
-b - (b^2-4ac squared) over 2a
and:
-b + (b^2-4ac squared) over 2a

I mean, how is it used? Why is there two answers? And I guess I do not remember how to factor ax^2 + bx + c

algebra one has already fallen out of my head... and I was so good at it last year, too...

If you look at the graph, it's a parabola and so it crosses the x axis in 2 points, thus resulting in two situations that both give the result 0. In special cases, as in the equation being a perfect square, there is only one, or in another situation, when the graph doesn't cross the x axis there are no real solutions for the equation, only imaginary.
