Nuclear war only makes sense under the assumption that everything we are seeing (which is from strictly Salad Fingers perspective) is real. I also think there was a war and his brother died in it. Maybe that is what drove him insane and made him kill his wife. Killing his wife drove him more insane. He, and everyone in his world, is disorted and mutated because he is crazy, not because they are literally deformed. Nuclear war does not satisfy his interest in blood, explain how he can accidentally murder kids and not worry about it or do things like pierce his finger with a nail and rub nettles on his nips.

Yeah pretty much anything I said could just be part of his delusional mind. It's pretty much impossible to tell what's real and what's delusion. It could really be either one, or something completely different.

you dont nessicerally have to be insaine to blood bend katara wasnt the first time she used it and it was during a full moon when water bending is at its strongest. Hama wasnt so much insaine as she was creative.

Water: Has healing capabilities extreme cooling and the ability to turn salt water into fresh water pretty practical element if you ask me also is good offensively as well if near water an experienced bender could bring a wall of water down on someone and flash freeze it also they have the ability to super heat water to steam in seconds seeing how fresh steam can sear flesh it could boil you to the point of going into shock and even death bring blood bending in and you have a pretty versatile element survival skills defense and offensive moves.

so over all i would have to go with water as the strongest element if used properly you can make fresh water heal wounds super heat water to steam flash freeze water to ice and at a master level under the right circumstances you can bloodbend and control someones body but even at a lower level i am sure i water bender could dehydrate someone or pull the liquid out of there bodies so over all water is the most useful element in the avatar universe

bloodbending is in no way a reason to choose it nor is it a practical method to use in combat because of the ridiculous amount of things that would have to be done before even being able to use it. water is the superior element besides all of that stuff though

The circumstances that she learned it wouldn't be likely to occur again. It was during a war and she was imprisoned and given very little water. She started to go insane and basically killed rats for fun.

It's certainly not impossible, but I don't think it's terribly likely either. But we'll see, Korra is just starting maybe we'll see bloodbenders in the future.

No you don't you give no reason how you would learn blood bending. Hama learned bloodbending through complete isolation and insanity, and she only taught it to Katara. You would NOT learn how to bloodbend if you were a waterbender.

Bloodbending is not a valid reason to choose waterbending.

Personally I think I'd prefer airbending to water bending. Waterbending would be a close second. Because we live in a peaceful world, I have no need of any offensive or defensive abilities, but flying would be fun =)
