You don't have to wash your cat, they're not like dogs. They wash themselves. This is just plain cruel.

ESPECIALLY the indoor AND the outdoor cats? That means all of them. And no, that's not true at all. I've had lots of cat, both indoor and outdoor cats, and I've never washed a single cat in my entire life. And none of my cats has smelled. Ever. In fact, I think they smell pretty good. It's not in their nature to be washed, because they're so hygienic that they clean themselves.

Now, dogs, on the other hand, always smell bad.

What indoor/outdoor was supposed to mean was the cats that live indoors, but go outdoor too whenever they feel like it. And they smell terrible. My mom loves cats. She has three of them and a cat door. Even tough they use the bathroom outside and the litter box when they're inside, which she cleans regularly, her house smells like cat piss and hell.

No wonder her cats smell. Hate to break it to you, but your mother might be one of those crazy cat ladies.

sometimes cats get into things that they shouldnt and NEED to be cleaned or they will get sick or die. When my family had a pool we had lots of chlorine tubs lying around and if someone accidentally left the lid open a kitty might go rolling around in the chemicals. but situations like that were the only times we ever had to get a cat in the tub, and they were not happy nonetheless.
This machine makes it so you dont have to deal with the claws of fury, and they come out unharmed. so its not cruel, they just have to deal with water for a few minutes

The point is, cats smell. Dogs smell. Humans smell. All three need baths to not smell. Just because you own cats doesn't make them immune to this rule. Cats souldn't take baths because it's not healthy for them because they have oils and such, just like dogs aren't supposed to be bathed too much, and it's actually considered healthy for humans to only wash their hair every other day to every two days. Just because a cat licks itself does not make it clean. Dogs lick themselves too. You just don't think your cats smell because you live with them. Most people who have a sense of smell and don't live with cats, would walk into your home and notice the stink.

I've never gotten any complaints, and I've lived in another country for half a year, and then returned, and my cat smelled even better than I could remember. I've also visited friends with cats, and they smell good too.

But unlike your mother, we have a clean home and we certainly don't let our cats pee in it (beside the litter box). This might have something to do with the fact that we have had only female cats (except from one) and they don't feel like they need to mark their territory. Because living in a house that smells like cat urine is very unhealthy. Not only for the cats, but also for your mother. That's not normal.
