 It isn't. It's usually pronounced Van Goff by English speakers because you cannot physically produce the sound the Dutch pronounce it with. The correct pronunciation is upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/32/Nl-Vincent_van_Gogh.ogg #51 -
harleycurnow (12/10/2014) [-] There are no physical differences between someone who speaks dutch and someone who speaks english. The sound is just more difficult because we very rarely use it.  Just noticed that even the German pronounciation seems to be a little wrong eventhough German and Dutch are closely related. It's not hard to pronounce, we just do it wrong, like "Goch". Also we pronounce Vincent like "Vintssent" but it's supposed to pronounced "Vintschent", isn't it?.  we all do understand how incredibly pretentious you sound.......correct? #60 -
