Depends on what you mean by regularly. For instance, one "small" glass of red wine every evening can be healthy for you. However, if one drinks constantly and consistently for years upon years (getting drunk all day every day) then that can have very bad consequences.

Essentially, alcohol can effect every organ in the body, cause cancer, etc etc. However, alcohol can be very beneficial, both physically and mentally, but one HAS to understand moderation.

Alcohol poisoning has nothing to do with this. Alcohol poisoning is the drinking of large amounts of alcohol in a very short period of time. A person with alcohol poisoning needs immediate medical attention (even getting their stomach pumped). Basically, if someone is unconscious, struggling to breathe, and/or throwing up, they may have alcohol poisoning. Drinking regularly every day won't cause this, unless that person drinks excessively in a short period of time (short period of time means within a drinking 'session,' like a Friday night of drinking).

The rule of thumb: if someone fails to wake up or react after constant and effective methods (throwing cold water on their face, etc) then they should seek medical attention. If someone passes out and you're like "Dude, wake up!" and shake them and they raise their hand and they're like "Mmmrrr noooo... mmmrrrr" then they probably don't have alcohol poisoning.

I (and many others) consider myself a drinker. I like to drink. But, I know moderation. I work a 9-5 job Mon-Fri. I'll have a few beers when I come home from work if I feel up to it. No big deal. On my weekends I like to go out with my friends, take shots, drink beer, drink mixed drinks, then take more shots. I get pretty drunk. This isn't a good thing because that may cause alcohol poisoning if I don't pace myself. Just remember to pace yourself.

However, the long term effects of this are a completely different story.
