If the US would be like Scandinavia, you wouldn't have this problem. Also people wouldn't have to rob houses to stay alive. Crime isn't something people are born to do. Something causes it.

Our "firearm" related deaths are polled differently than yours. In our countries firearm related deaths are all grouped together. Meaning that we on average have 8,000 gun deaths a year, that 8,000 includes police shooting criminals, suicide, accidental death, civilians protecting themselves, and then actual murders. The actual murders number lands around 3,000 a year, we also have 360,000,000 people. Only 3,000 out of 360,000,000 people is pretty good. Your country is infinitely smaller than ours and with less people so of course there's less gun death, there's less people.

22 years old, I'm currently attending college majoring in Criminal Justice, I teach firearm safety classes for a living. I have had my home broken into before, I stopped him because I had my AR-15 by my bedside. My CCW has saved my life too. Our countries are very different, banning guns may work in other places but they tried it here in America and it made gun violence rise violently. The states in America with the tightest gun control have the most violence and the states with the loosest gun control have the least violence here. Our countries are literally like two different worlds.

It does not happen often but it does still happen sometimes, so let's take your scenario and break it down. Call the cops? Sounds reasonable... except...

Average police response time is 8 minutes. In those 8 minutes you were stabbed and your mother/sister has been raped. The criminals are gone before they hear sirens.
#382 - Noobanon (12/16/2013) [-]
People in the US break into homes to rape people? Jesus you've got some deep scars in your system. I find it more likely though that having a ton of weapons on untrained and unstable civilians would be realistically more dangerous than the risk of having someone break into your house to rape. Sure, you are taught to be scared of that, but laws can't be based on exceptions. Rules are made to be as protective as possible. Therefore its more likely that having less guns, would cause less fatalities, than having guns would prevent your rape scenario.

In Finland the police responds faster, also we don't have this "Rape and pillage"-problem, due mostly to the social policies I stated earlier.

User avatar #383 - roliga (12/16/2013) [-]
That was literally so wrong I'm not even going to justify it with a real response.
#394 - Noobanon (12/16/2013) [-]
I'm clearly debating with someone from the bible zone? I wish you would respect my arguments with counterarguments, but hey, who am I to judge. I hope that one day people like you will be a minority and more logical and equal social policies are implemented on your country.
User avatar #396 - roliga (12/16/2013) [-]
When the fuck did religion come into this? I'm not even in the bible belt.
User avatar #410 - mrgreatnamess (12/16/2013) [-]
The bible belt came into the argument because it's like debating with an idiot religious person (people from the bible belt are stereotyped as being idiots incapable of reason)
#400 - Noobanon (12/16/2013) [-]
The bible zone is a geopolitical area. You ARE from the southern US aren't you? Republican? Private conservative school?
User avatar #404 - roliga (12/16/2013) [-]
I'm not from the southern United States, I'm not a republican, I did not go to a private conservative schools. All of your assumptions are baseless and wrong.
#415 - Noobanon (12/16/2013) [-]
Please, tell me your age/educational background. In Northern Europe we usually teach logical thinking and study politics and questions on our society. You on the other hand are like a headless chicken running around causing panic, clearly fearing a constant danger of rape everywhere. Try to think objectively, it's a key in decision making, not personal experience or unfortunate scenarios.
User avatar #416 - roliga (12/16/2013) [-]
22 years old, I'm currently attending college majoring in Criminal Justice, I teach firearm safety classes for a living. I have had my home broken into before, I stopped him because I had my AR-15 by my bedside. My CCW has saved my life too. Our countries are very different, banning guns may work in other places but they tried it here in America and it made gun violence rise violently. The states in America with the tightest gun control have the most violence and the states with the loosest gun control have the least violence here. Our countries are literally like two different worlds.
#418 - Noobanon (12/16/2013) [-]
Clearly they are. I'm personally 18 years old. I study in highschool. I truly hope that one day other countries adapt to the North European social structure. I find it the best, and so do many, many statistics. All the best, and thank you for this conversation.
User avatar #419 - roliga (12/16/2013) [-]
If we were like you, I would be dead. Just let that settle in for a bit.
#421 - Noobanon (12/16/2013) [-]
If the US would be like Scandinavia, you wouldn't have this problem. Also people wouldn't have to rob houses to stay alive. Crime isn't something people are born to do. Something causes it.

Let that sink in.
User avatar #422 - roliga (12/16/2013) [-]
They don't rob houses to stay alive, some do it for fun, some do it for drug money, etc. It still happens in your country as much as youd like to think it doesn't.

List of countries by firearm-related death rate per 100,000 population in one year.

USA
10.3 (2011)

Yeah so, debate that.
User avatar #437 - roliga (12/16/2013) [-]
Our "firearm" related deaths are polled differently than yours. In our countries firearm related deaths are all grouped together. Meaning that we on average have 8,000 gun deaths a year, that 8,000 includes police shooting criminals, suicide, accidental death, civilians protecting themselves, and then actual murders. The actual murders number lands around 3,000 a year, we also have 360,000,000 people. Only 3,000 out of 360,000,000 people is pretty good. Your country is infinitely smaller than ours and with less people so of course there's less gun death, there's less people.
#426 - Noobanon (12/16/2013) [-]
Read the statistics bro. You can close your eyes on the faults of your country, but that won't stop me from enjoying living in one of the safest on the planet. Criminals are people too. Look deeper into the problem.
User avatar #428 - roliga (12/16/2013) [-]
Then read our statistic, more people use guns to save their own lives legally from an attacker in America than people are killed illegally with a gun.
User avatar #373 - mrgreatnamess (12/16/2013) [-]
Well then tough titties.

#361 - Noobanon (12/16/2013) [-]
I wouldn't take risks, call the cops. Live on. The thing is though. That wasn't my point. I do not have to worry about such problems, since my country gives equal opportunities and actually tries to help people of all social classes succeed. The answer to crime isn't supplying guns to everyone. Prevention is key. Work on your social injustices and TA-DA you don't need to be ready to shoot someone constantly. Happy people = less crime. I believe in you America, one day you can change your ways.
