Yes but the question is why? Worms that affect the digestive track aren't typically keen on leaving the digestive tract because all of their needs are met inside that environment. Why would you bore through soft tissue, where you receive a steady supply of digestible foods, to reside inside of dense muscular tissue? Heart worms are rarely the same as worms of the digestive tract, and get to the heart via blood...not by boring through the body. The comment about leaving an orifice comes directly from an article which states some worms can be transmitted through anilingus, so it was more "tongue in cheek"...ahem. Pardon the pun. I'm not saying it's impossible, just that the amount of worms in these x-rays is at an extreme level, and would have led to some sort of event prior to "stomach pains". That, and I looked for any verification that this was a real x-ray, and so far the only stories I've found were printed in tabloids. They said it was a tapeworm infection. From all that I've read, only the pork tapeworm (Taenia solium) has a history of larval cystic infection (boring into tissue outside the digestive system). The tapeworm found in fish (Diphyllobothrium) only resides in the digestive system.

Overcrowding of the intestines aside, nutrients can be leeched directly from organs. Having tapeworms attached to the heart, lungs, and other vitals has caused more than one death. A single worm may help you lose a bit of weight, but, many worms kills you. Horribly.
