Yeah you pretty much got that dead on.

Clearly it's a great idea for people who are going to be armed to be as skilled as possible with their weapons. It's just not a good idea to enforce that education at gun point like they currently do. You make a great point about the local governments. When I say that I mean REALLY local. Federal and state governments often have officials that have no idea what's going on on the other side of their Territory.

Offering the classes as a charity would be badass and I would gladly donate to something like that.

It's a strange thing weapons carry these days. It's not our place as people with any sense of honor to refuse someone's right to potentially protect their life with deadly force as long as they intend no harm to innocents. Knowing of someone who wants to carry, it would be great to share that education with them by choice instead of by force. The people who want to hurt us with weapons will never regard for our preferences for skilled and responsible use. Witnessing that reckless gun behavior really woke me up the thing and I came to AZ where people aren't as disrespected for responsibility for defense.

Don't worry I'm not flippin out...yet. lol. The name really is important though as it defines the job. As it stands it's a euphemism which is upsetting and cowardly. I'm not blaming you at all, in fact maybe you can agree and help set things straight.

I really don't like the "deadly" weapon thing particularly because the bottle I'm drinking out of right now is a deadly weapon if I so decide it to be. If I chucked the thing while it's full of water...my god things are gonna hit hard. Sure as hell didn't get a permit for that one.

The permit thing really busts my balls and was even a major cause of me moving out of my home state in reaction to the requirement of a permit and the danger of police killing me for carrying without one. The ridiculousness of it set in at a gas station where I had a Glock pointed at my head from someone who very obviously was not into the permit carrying business. That lack of permit didn't keep his finger off the trigger. That day I didn't have a firearm on me because I hadn't gotten my permit yet... I hadn't paid my $300 to the state and submitted my finger prints to beg for my god given right to bear arms and it nearly got me and my sister killed.

I think that the classes are extremely useful and instructive but the idea of issuing badges for those who carry just makes me laugh desperately after witnessing how criminals get guns cheaper and easier than anyone else can.

I agree completely, but solely for the sake of playing devils advocate, you have to admit firearms can be extremely dangerous. I don't think it's necessarily wrong to require a certain level of competency be required before you can carry concealed.

But the way the government goes about it is all wrong. They make it as if you are already some kind of criminal or psycho for wanting to protect yourself. And they go out of their way to make it difficult or expensive for law abiding citizens to exercise their rights.
I think local governments should still require the CCDW class, but make it completely free and much more accessible for people to attend. Because while yes I absolutely want people to utilize the second amendment. I want them to do so safely.
I think that's a pretty fair compromise.

"CCDW" is one of the dumbest things I"ve ever heard. Just call them weapons. these kind of phrases just serve to reinforce why everyone is so irrationally scared of weapons.
User avatar #337 - Muppetz (07/04/2014) [-]
CCDW is the name of the course I teach, man. I didn't pick the name.
You need a license to concealed carry what the government classifies as deadly weapons.
I just teach the class to get the license. Chill

You are really active in these comments. I agree with you. This sort of fear mongering is just more bad rep for simple things like a friggin pocket knife.

I see the irrationality regarding such a simple thing as EDC tools and it gets frustrating. I'm probably wasting time with a lot of comments here but some of the anti-gun and amazingly anti-knife remarks and unbelievable!

Holy bitch tits batman, it must of been the gravity of uranus during the planetary alignment. They must of harnessed that to create an Ice ray that froze the beach so innocent bystanders would sink there overly useless mode of transportation once they ran over this one location... By god, I think I got it.

Butter my bat balls batman, he's right this isnt mother natures sandy vagina. its a frozen lake. That total puts things into a new perspective. Instead of Harnessing the power of Uranus, Mr Freeze must of busted a load all over this lake. However, he must of missed this one particular location. We must alert the coast guard. they will know what to do.
