Hillary could have focused more on policy during her run (though I doubt it would've helped her much), but between the two of them she was indisputably the more knowledgeable and had a far more detailed platform, not just compared to Trump but compared to basically every candidate in the primaries of both parties. This was especially evident in the Dem primary debates. Say what you want about her track record and moral character, but she is an absolute policy wonk.

I'm not saying Trump made no attempts to talk policy or detail his platform, but most of the time he spoke about it in very general terms, making promises to achieve a particular goal but not being able to explain how when pressed. To be fair he did improve somewhat in this regard late in the election, but for most of the election he made lofty promises to fix everyone's problems, "believe me". And he flip-flopped on many issues and positions during the election, either because he often just didn't know what he was talking about, or for political expediency (for example, his early statements on healthcare in summer 2015 made it sound like he wanted a government-run system that would take care of everyone).

For government run healthcare he said something to the effect of universal healthcare is a good idea that wouldn't work in practice. Conservatives often say something to this effect in regards to communism.

He didn't say it wouldn't work in practice, he said it worked fine in many other countries but wouldn't work in the US. I don't remember if he gave an explanation. Probably not.

But that was later - what he originally said was this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPJfKdp3bDs
Seeing the clip again, looks like I didn't quite get it right about what he said: first he said that under his plan, everybody's going to be covered, including the uninsured (i.e. universal healthcare), and he's going to achieve that by "making a deal" with existing hospitals so they will cover people, and the government will pay for it which sounds like a public plan to me. But then he says that for the most part it's going to be a private plan and people will be able to keep their existing doctors and plans.

Which to me sounds like "I'll give everyone everything they want, don't worry about the details". It doesn't sound like an actual plan, and it doesn't really sound like the plan he ended up putting out.

I agree Hillarys policy was more knowledgeable than anyone else who ran.
But only on her website.
Her speeches contained no or very little policy.

I would have pulled for Ross Perot type, independent, no real alliances with major corporations because of his personality and character. He can play the game, but doesn't let the game play him.
Also economic Nostradamus.

I got $50 that says someone is gonna come around with some 'pay for play' bullshit on this one, because she donated to Trump's campaign...

Why I have talking money is beyond me.
