Thats why it is set as a time. it takes the embryo X amount of time to develop to a point. And that isnæt going to change.

Yes you can be born at different times, but remember that most are not 100% sure when they concived, and it is possible to sutrvive being born early.

And the abortion date is usually set at from the earlyest date expected for conception. It is the best way to do it right now.

So every fetus develops a heartbeat at the exact same time?
No way.
It isnt even X number of days, its X number of months.
100% arbitrary

But the problem with the "pro life" is that they consider the "fetus" at any level even before the development of a brain or other vital organs to still be a "human".
Even though it at that point isnt.

And yes there needs to be an upper limit for when abortion should be illegal. But that shouldn't start before organs has developed do a certain degree. And in all nations I know of that allow abortion this is also the case.

Now the exception here would be if the fetus is actively killing the mother or something similarl in severity but this will always be rate cases.
And studies show that these kind of abortions almoust exclusively are done on wanted pregnancies where the woman wished to have the child, the opposite of abortions that are done before the legal limit.

I hate the number being a unit of time, it should be an event in the development of the fetus.

No the "pro life" has no argument before you pass the term limit where abortion becomes illegal (with some exceptions).

Pretending that both sides are equal is dishonest.

I dunno about the people thumbing you down,
ONE argument is a women's right to what happens to her body and her right to keep the government out of her business
The OTHER argument is that the governments job is to create laws to protect its citizens, and they consider the fetus at a certain point to be a citizen with rights that needs to be protected.

1) That's the logical equivalent of saying the emancipation movement had no argument because slavery was legal.

2) The term "pro-choice" ignores science, which proved a long time ago that consensual intercourse is a choice that leads to pregnancy. Court across the Western world, including Norway, affirm this point by making child support mandatory, even when the last choice the father made was merely to have sex with the mother.
