I burn more calories trying to clutch on counter-strike than a sport like darts

"An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment."

Ahem, as I said before to someone else, it does not require a lot of physical exertion as much as, say, soccer or something, but it requires a lot of mental exertion. Even then, it does cause a lot of physical stress on someone's body, considering the hours they spend learning the game, staying up and playing it, pushing buttons and clicking their mouse for hours on end.

It is tiring, no matter what you say.

It is also, typically, team vs team or 1v1... Which fits the definition of sport. It's all about skill, not how bad your body burns after it.

Everyone is also saying it's called an e-sport and that makes it different... But it doesn't. It's just a sub-class of sport. Racing, Archery, Chess, ping-pong, cycling... All different types of sports, but still sports. Officially, I believe Video Games, and E-sports by proxy, are listed under 'Mind sports' along side card games and chess.

Darts, Pool/Snooker, Golf, Chess, Polo, Racing
I think the definition of sport is vastly outdated, it's a game played by structured rules that involves some measure of either mental or physical exertion and skill.

By that all the above would fit and so would 'eSports'.

This may not be a popular opinion, but I think most of those should be considered games.

Some of those might be more properly considered games or hobbies.

Moving a mouse is physical exertion as well. He's simply providing relatively low physical exertion sports.

Hey buddy, all of those require some sort of physical exertion. The only thing remotely close to what you are saying would be chess, but no because it is physical.

but neither is Chess by those rules.

that's why the people who compete in it always call it an e-sport.
