A lot.
But as an easy example, check the scene where they're trying to dock to the spinning station.
They first make themselves spin really really quickly, so their heads jerk to the side, which is fine. However they keep their heads there the ENTIRE TIME. Since they are no longer accelerating, they would no longer be subject to any sideways forces pushing their heads sideways. In fact, since they had entered into a spinning state, the momentum they had acquired should have been pulling their heads FORWARDS rather than sideways, away from the center of rotation.

This is also why some people believe it is theoretically possible to travel back in time.

wat. How does this enforce that at all?
#129 - haroldsaxon (10 minutes ago) [-]
You can write the future of any given point as 2r, r being the speed of light. IE, the future from where you're sitting right now can't contain the sun if you move only 4 minutes in y direction, but does contain the sun if you move ~8m20s into y direction or further.

If you look closely as my MS point skills you might notice that I should get a patronage, but that's not important right now. Inside the cone is every point in the universe that can be affected by your current position, origo, and is also every theoretical place it might be possible to travel to. Of course, your lazy ass will only follow the y line and be fairly stationary in x direction, but other people might travel far. However, these other people can't travel outside the magical cone. Theoretically, they can travel to the sun in ~8 min or more, but the sun in 4 min would be outside the cone of time. Black holes bend this cone.

This is just a rough explanation. I can't really go into the complex stuff, you'd have to ask the correct physicists. Also, x is of course multidimensional.

Dude yes.
The black hole in interstellar was one of the only things they did right.

They did a lot more right if you look at it theory wise.

#119 - cormy (22 hours ago) [-]
lol I don't care about the theory. You can use whatever rules you want for whatever universe you want, but it should be consistent.
And it's not consistent in Interstellar.
Also they used our universe's rules and then did them badly. Forget the fucking... Time travel BS, that's all theoretical, don't really need to dwell on that.
But their basic physics were wrong.

What do you fucking expect? A documentary?
User avatar
#125 - cormy (6 hours ago) [-]
No? I expect a movie based on reality to follow that reality. You say they did a lot more right, now you say who gives a fuck? Either we give a fuck or we don't, choose one.

A bit of water and snow on top is slippery, but not this slippery.
I live in Norway, have winter every fucking year with lots of snow and lots of hills.
It doesn't get that slippery unless there's an ice and water combo, it's unusal that it rains, freezes, starts to melt and then snows at the same time.

Some fucked people just pour buckets of water in the streets and film the aftermath.

I know, I'm just surprised people who are coming off as trying to be smart are so bad at poorly wording their myths and facts
