Not to mention that because our country is strongly opposed to ridiculous profits in welfare and has not privatized it it means that the money is being spent a LOT more efficiently than in the US.

Medicine is sold for over 50x the price of it's actual value so some greedy shitbag can line his pockets when obviously people have to buy it since they fucking die otherwise.

you are talking to about 15% of the US population buddy. Enjoy having someone else pay for all your shit though. Some of us don't want to depend on the government like fucking baby birds waiting for mom to puke supper into our mouths. Free will vs determinism. Some people actually believe that we don't need the government to determine the course of our lives. The American Dream is generating enough wealth so that is true. How is upwards mobility in Sweden these days?

You make it sound like its a one way street when this is obviously not the case, if it was our country would have collapsed decades ago.
You also sound awfully resentful for some godforsaken reason.

I have paid a around 8000$ in taxes and I'm 21, and in return I've been given extremely cheap education and healthcare.

In a few years i will have paid more in taxes than i've cost all things considered.

Our government understands that it is better to invest in the population rather than to milk them dry of cash.

Sweden has a higher wealth per capita than the US according to the Global Wealth Databook, and it is also more evenly distributed amongst our citizens.

How the fuck is getting pretty much free education and healthcare "the government determining the course of my life"?
It's merely prolonging and improving the course of my life.

It's about giving and taking, those who need help here get help and those who have much and want more have to sacrifice a bit for those who need, I'm glad my tax money goes to the less fortunate as i am happy with the way my life is right now, in addition to that i know that if i ever get in a very troubling situation my fellow countrymen have my back as i have theirs.

Everything in life is a risk. Being free is not a guarantee that there won't be risks in your life. It's not a guarantee that life will be fair. It's not even a guarantee that things will work out for you. You can very easily lose, and lose hard.

Freedom is not comfort. In fact freedom often forces you to acknowledge the uncomfortable realities of life. You're forced to confront them; there is no option to run to the government acting as some pseudo parent.

Are you free if the government takes the fruits of you labor and then tells you what insurance you get to have?

If the US a capitalistic dystopia, why does everyone try to come here?

Our issues with health insurance have little to do with capitalism and much more to do with a slew of bad laws and regulations; our government is so involved in our healthcare that you can't consider what's occurring to be much of a free market at all.

A quick example: We have a law that requires everyone to have health insurance. And not just any health insurance, mind you, but a specific level of health insurance (ie it has to cover things like counseling, maternity care, mental health etc). I was just talking to a friend today about his health insurance. He's a pretty healthy dude in his early 20's who doesn't have any chronic conditions and thus doesn't really need anything besides coverage for emergencies (ie cancer, broken bones, accidents, etc). But it's literally illegal for him to get a plan that would only cover what he needs coverage for. Instead he has to have this huge plan which covers things he'll never use and eats up literally half of his paycheck.

And the thing is, America was far less regulated (ie more purely capitalistic) when we didn't have such huge issues with health insurance. This doesn't mean that all regulation is bad, just that many that we currently have are creating the conditions we find ourselves in. And to solve the problem, the politicians just holler until they pass another law with another 70,000 regulations that are just as awful and don't actually help anything.

If we'd start wiping out the layers of crap regulations and law and replaced it with stuff that simply set the rules and let the people make the choices, we'd be fine.

But that won't happen because they're incompetent and corrupt. Do you understand why I don't want these people having power over the difference between me living and dying? They don't care about me and never will. Why should I trust my life to them?

Well freedom is also the freedom to put healthcare in the hands of the government and have it taken out of your taxes. You are free to place yourself in shackles, as you see the situation.

Sure, I am free to put myself in shackles, but once I am in chains I'd be a fool to consider myself still free.

I pay about 21% before I file for taxes and get part of it back. Honestly I'd rather pay for it and get universal healthcare.

You have toilets over there? Shit, I don't even know how to insult you cause there's like nothing even remotely noteworthy about Portugal. Maybe you got an average pig bladder kicking team and that's it.

I don't even know how you fucks look like. Do you have tails?

I made it pretty clear I'm not from Portugal but heck considering your education system I'm not surprised you have issues reading.
