Enforcing jaywalking laws is ridiculous in most situations, but apparently, it is a necessary law because there are still some idiots who try to cross a 6 lane highway with a 50mph speed limit where there is no crosswalk.

I know because a few years ago, I witnessed some woman try to do this and stopped walking in the middle of the traffic, so everyone around me had to slam their brakes to keep from hitting her...and then the guy behind me wasn't paying attention and slammed into me. I was fine, but he totalled his car. (The woman made it across the street, too.)
