It does get annoying when everyone shouts "I LOVE MLP!" and it's really unnecessary, which is probably why some people get angry at the sight of anything MLP related.

Well, give it a shot. The first two episodes are kinda cheesy but it grows kinda quickly on a lot of people... plus, Nightmare Moon is a total badass.

While a lot of us are open about our love of the show, a lot of the time, we're just trying to find others who like it too.
