Yeah, I've been in encounters with that shithead before.
As for the military, I'm sorry you feel that way as of now, but that's your choice. I can't make you think one way or the other. Although I am no longer serving, I take the oath to heart. Just like my father, grand father, and so on... all the way to the Battle of Hastings in 1066. As for me: 1st Cavalry infantry attachment. I honestly wish I was still in the service, I was actually happy there. Compared to working as a glorified janitor (Correction: Maintenance Associate) and searching for a second job.

I'm more towards Libertarian, with some Conservative mixed in. I don't affiliate with a specific party, I vote for the person who best represents my ideals.

I know I'm sort of butting into your conversation, but I'd just like to say that most of us aren't like that. That being said, they could be behaving differently in your area as compared to mine. I get a lot of Liberals who start behaving in similar manners to what you described whenever they find out that I identify as a Conservative. I don't have anything personal against Liberals, it's their lives and ideology. I only have a problem when they become aggressive and initiate an undesired debate (If that makes sense, I was never the best at putting my thoughts into writing...).

In other words: As a Conservative, I don't have a problem with you. I just have differing ideals, fiscal responsibility (like you have mentioned) being chief among them at this time. As a Liberal, I hope you don't have a problem with me, and I'll respect your differing viewpoints and ideals... to an extent... having served in the Army, I have the well being of the American people, including you, in mind and will fight and die to keep y'all safe... if need be... but I saw a bit of your conversation with invadeusa, and was a bit disturbed...

AS for your service.. While I hold true to the belief that you guys are not protecting anything but the pocketbooks of politicians and oil barons right now, I am aware of the good that you guys can do. My Great Grandfather was a Buchenwald Liberator when he was 19. Private First Class, 89th infantry Unit Robert Metzger. If he were alive today, he would have up and shot every politician that got us into this mess.

I am more of an Anarchist these days though.

Yes, Human nature is chaotic, but so is the future. No one, not me, not you, not little Johnny down the street, has the ability to see the future... we can only hope for the best and expect the worst.

I don't have a problem with you, personally, but you seem to be a very hateful person. I'm sure that if you take the time to talk and listen to say, a Conservative for example, you might just walk away from the encounter with a new understanding of their view point (And vice-versa).

I don't mean to sound condescending or patronizing...
User avatar #483 - LastCall (12/10/2011) [-]
Not exactly hateful.. I just don't like it when people come after me for things I cannot control. I won't accept the status quo.

People who often identify as Conservative often try and "change" people who are not straight. They tend to use the Bible to try and achieve their goals, which rarely benefit anyone but themselves. The folks who are financially conservative are no problem. It's all good being careful with your money. But it's the "moral Conservatives" that I have a beef with.
