I know the age used to be 18, I said that. And we aren't treating it like a food right now, and it shouldn't be treated that way, it is mind altering, it needs some form of extra attention.

And yet, so many other countries are having no problem with alcohol at all. Gee, why is that? Because it's perfectly safe in moderation.

Instead of doing some actual parenting, they just tell their kids "NO. Alcoholz iz bad and makes jesus cry" and treat it like some forbidden substance. It's the same thing with Abstinence Only Sex Ed. It doesn't work, and as soon as the kid has the means to, they'll go out and get piss-drunk and end up with a kid. by the time they're 18.

Alcohol is bad and if you let moron children, which is currently most of what we have sadly, drink it if they want they will over do it and die. WE as a group are not capable of handling it right now. Maybe in a few decades or a generation we will be able to, but not right now. So drop it. It is dangerous, people will die, there should be a limit.
    User avatar
    #16 - LastCall (04/20/2012) [-]
WE, as a civilization CAN handle alcohol responsibly. The people who drink to the excess are 98% of the time, sheltered kids.

Alcohol is NOT a bad thing. The problem is that people don't know how to actually parent their spawn. I say, let the morons kill themselves off. Just because SOME people can't be fucking sensible, doesn't mean all of us can't.

I use alcohol often. I'm a Chef. I cook with it, I use it to add rich flavors to my food. I pair wines accordingly which allow for a whole new dimension to the food. And I drink regularly.
That's art. An art which everyone should be able to enjoy and experience.

Red wine, in moderation, has been shown to actually help the heart, liver, and kidneys.
White wine and clear liquors often help with digestion.
And alcohol is consumed in places where the water is unsafe to drink.

People die from everything. Alcohol is only dangerous if you make it so. You fucking moron
    User avatar
    #94 - dancokacole (04/21/2012) [-]
    the concept is still simple
this is alcohol, this will kill you if you drink it way too much, you are not an adult yet and should not drink this because you may drink it excessively on some occassions which is very bad for your health
you may drink this when you are eighteen and an adult, but not before because your mind needs to grow naturally and you are not able to make the correct judgement on how much you can drink right now because of your age and maturity level.
even with proper parenting you can not just GIVE kids alcohol and trust them not to be kids or idiots or anything.
    User avatar
    #95 - LastCall (04/21/2012) [-]
By the gods, how can you even BREATHE on your own?

Did I *NOT* just say that you have to actually TEACH children about alcohol and how to properly use it?
If you're just turning 18/21 and have never even had alcohol before, how would you know how much you can handle? You have to be taught. However, refusing to teach kids and placing a taboo on alcohol will only result in a higher rate of alcoholism and death.

As I mentioned earlier, I have no qualms at all about letting idiots kill themselves. It's not my job to ensure their safety and sanitize their precious little world for them.

I've been drinking since I was 6. My parents started me out on a glass of wine with dinner every night and taught me how to handle alcohol with and without food, and the different ways different alcohols can affect me. I'd say I turned out just fine. I'm in perfect health (albeit with a genetically higher metabolic rate) and about as sane as could be expected.
And I've obviously had no drawbacks as far as intellect goes.

    User avatar
    #96 - dancokacole (04/21/2012) [-]
not ALL people can handle these things. And just because I think that we shouldn't give six year olds alcohol doesn't mean i'm ignorant or a complete moron. Alcohol is simple, drink a small amount you are fine, drink enough to get drunk you are still okay, drink more it may cause long term damage in the far future if you do it excessively, drink way too much and you will die on the spot. Ta-fricken-da.
    User avatar
    #97 - LastCall (04/21/2012) [-]
Die on the spot? How old are you, 12? Do you have any idea how your liver and kidneys function?

No. You ARE a fucking moron. You have no real world experience and it shows. You claim "Alcohol is bad" Well then, throw out your toothpaste, mouthwash, shampoos, gum, laundry detergent, carbonated drinks, ramen, and every other piece of food you have.
Alcohol is a naturally occurring substance and has a multitude of uses.
The kind we drink, distilled or fermented, is only slightly refined in order to improve the taste.

It's simple. Remove the taboo, remove the issue.

This has worked in Norway, Germany, Switzerland, France, Sweden, Aaland, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Greenland, Estonia, Latvia, Holland, Freetown Christainia, Italy, Sicily, Svalbard, Spain, Portugal, Cypress, Greece, Croatia, Turkey, Bosnia, Austria, Sealand,

The list goes on. You're wrong on this one, popcorn. Proper education goes a looong way.
    User avatar
    #98 - dancokacole (04/21/2012) [-]
if you continuously drink alcohol daily to the point of getting drunk your livers and kidneys have a significantly high chance of failing. no one swallows mouthwash or toothpaste or laundry detergent or shampoo, if they do they seek a physician immediatily, or at least that is what is suggested. many foods have mild dangers, too much sugar will give you diabetes, too much fat will give you a heart attack, alcohol is not needed to be given to everyone in america when we have clean drinking water and other possibilities. America isn't giving any education on it right now, so as I stated, you can not just take away the law. You need to educate people, and wait many years so this process is thick through all ages, then you can discuss drinking age. As of right now though, children are not ready for it, and would over do it. How do you not get this? you are trying to give us a gun and then teach us how to use it. And no, alcohol isn't as dangerous as a gun, that is a metaphor.
    User avatar
    #99 - LastCall (04/21/2012) [-]
You truly are a panbrained git. Here, honey, since you're obviously incapable of comprehending the written form of the English language. I'll break it down for you.

Alcohol is a naturally occurring substance (That means it happens just as much in nature as it does anywhere else). It has many uses. (That means you can use the different kinds of alcohol for different things)
The alcohol that we drink is refined (which means that impurities {bad stuff} are removed) to enhance (improve) the flavor. Other forms of alcohol are used in day to day products and even happen in our own body.
When treated as a food, one is taught moderation (say it with me, sweetie, moh-der-A-shun. Good~!) in order to stay healthy (that means not sick) just as one would with candy (sweet stuff)
Believe it or not, everything can be dangerous in some way or another (GASP! SAY IT AIN'T SO!). The key is to actually start teaching kids.

Do I need to break it down any more for you, little child?
Your "Derr-hur, alkoholz iz a gun" nonsense just makes you even more pathetic.

Tell you what. How about you actually go into the real world (That means put down the computer and leave your basement. (Don't worry, Mommy says to be back by 5.) And learn what real life is like.

And, yes. I know I always show as online. See, the funny thing about having your own home is that you don't have to log out of anything.
    User avatar
    #100 - dancokacole (04/21/2012) [-]
I have time at night to reply. And just because it is naturally occurring doesn't mean it is good. And we already passed the fact that yes other things are bad for you, and the fact that alcohol isnt going to kill you out of nowhere unless it is abused. And I clearly stated alcohol is NOT a gun or as deadly as a gun. Now, acid is a substance that is naturally occurring. It is made in nature. It is made in our bodies. It is in food we eat. Some acids are bad some are good. The alcohol we drink is the better of most alcohols. Now for the love of god, all I am trying to tell you is that right now we have NO education set in to teach kids how to use alcohol without killing themselves. Something we both agree on, even though you insist on saying I'm wrong? You say we should let everyone have alcohol. with education. I am too. You are saying institute it imediatily, I am saying wait 20 years while education is in place so that we are all on the same page with how to use alcohol correctly. Why do you insist that is wrong? And stop getting angry and insulting my intelligence, all it does is make you look like an asshole.
    User avatar
    #101 - LastCall (04/21/2012) [-]
I'll insult what little intelligence may exist in that empty little head of yours so long as you continue to not comprehend what I'm telling you.

Guess what hon, the governments of those countries doesn't mandate the education. The..... Wait for it..... It's a big one!~.... PARENTS DO. Surprise! So it all goes back to the point that I made earlier! Well, how about that? Quite unexpected, eh?

Guess what. 20 years or not, there will be morons. Let them kill themselves off. Survival of the fittest, after all. If you're too fucking stupid to understand basic concepts, like moderation, then you're nothing more than a drain on this already crumbling society.
    User avatar
    #102 - dancokacole (04/21/2012) [-]
I would say 95% of parents have not yet educated their kids. Until the public sees that kids understand this and the adults do too it shouldn't be legal. Simple. No one is educating their children, so we can't treat them like they are educated. You really must have ran out of a defense, because you are using insults. Maybe you should mock my grammar too, I know their are some words up there I have misspelled.
    User avatar
    #103 - LastCall (04/21/2012) [-]
No, I'm insulting you because you're just not worth anything more.

We don't have to wait for the ignorant people to wise up. Do it and they'll either get some sense or die. Either way, it's a win.

You remove the stigma and allow the rest to follow suit, just as I have said. At most, from the time of age reduction to smooth integration, one would only ave a 3 year rough patch. If that.. Holland did. And with far heavier things. Guatemala is going to be going through a similar patch soon as well. The weak and stupid will die. That's a fact of life.

Waiting or not, this will happen.
    User avatar
    #104 - dancokacole (04/21/2012) [-]
You can't justify killing the ignorant who haven't had a chance to learn better. It is one thing to say, well that asshole had all the time to learn why he shouldn't be drinking thirty beers, but you can't justify the death of someone who just plain doesn't know better. Ignorance is not a reason to be killed unless the chance to learn was passed up. I have 0 compassion for human life and even i recognize the stupidity in what you are doing. What should happen before the legalization is for a future bill to be announced, if they say, oh in ten years alcohol will be completely legal, then parents will educate their children after being aware of what will happen. You can not just announce, oh in a month alcohol will be legal. It is not how it should be done. There does not HAVE to be a rough patch if proper steps are taken. Fine three years of a rough patch? Then how about we announce a bill today and in three years put it into affect. Now stop thumbing every post down like a pissed off asshole, because it makes you look childish, as soon as you stop I won't do it either. In fact I stopped three times to see if you would, and no, you didn't get the point.
    User avatar
    #105 - LastCall (04/21/2012) [-]
Save for the fact that there is plenty of information out there about what can happen with alcohol. Again It's a common sense thing. No matter WHAT you do, there will be a rough transitional period, or did you not grasp THAT particular tidbit as well?

The opportunity to learn is already there. I their parents were morons, then they can just as easily look things up online, or open a fucking book. I go back to "Survival of the fittest"

Even if they announce it and then wait out what they think will be the rough patch, GUESS WHAT? There will STILL be that rough patch. The willfully ignorant will die off.

And I've left your precious thumbs alone. However, I took a peek to see why you're so bent about them, and am now gonna put a little extra effort into blasting you. Simply because you're a panbrained git. =^-^=
    User avatar
    #110 - dancokacole (04/22/2012) [-]
I never stopped saying alcohol is bad. And at this point you are just being a moron. You are saying that it should be treated normally, but not as a basic drink? So what, you want people to treat it like a pizza? And alcohol is bad in large amounts for you, something I have been saying. It needs to be acknowledged that it has potential to be dangerous. And if there is a transition slide parents can educate their children BEFORE it comes out.
    User avatar
    #113 - LastCall (04/22/2012) [-]
I know several, but that is beside the point. You can't seem to grasp this. Let me try and bring it down to your level. Truly a Herculean effort on my part, it seems..

It will not matter at all, how long you wait before actually reducing the legal age of which to consume alcohol. People are stupid. So long as a taboo exists, not just in law, but in culture, people will die by the hundreds. They will deliberately drink to the excess. It will not matter how much information you put out there. The ignorant will die. Any that survive their brush with death will then know better.

Face it. People are going to die one way or the other. But after they go, there goes THAT problem. It's really a win-win..
    User avatar
    #114 - dancokacole (04/22/2012) [-]
Its not just about the wait, its also about it making others aware that it is going to change soon. People will die, but if they dont learn better after an entire transitional period, then that is the ignorance which deserves punishment. but you can't justify every death, but you can help make the ones that are even more solid. It can be said that if alcohol became legal tomorrow that out of all the people who die, i will say 50% deserve it. after a transitional period less will die, and you can say almost every one of them deserved it. and what if the same amount die? well you can say then they proved they deserved it. If you reply to this just go back to the original comment so we have more room. oh, popcorn! (i just understood that reference.)
    User avatar
    #111 - LastCall (04/22/2012) [-]
And, I will repeat, IT WON'T CANCEL OUT THE ACTUAL TRANSITIONAL PERIOD. PEOPLE WILL DIE BECAUSE THEY ARE MORONS.. By the gods, you truly are a moron.
    Let's try Khalani then...
Sho's ru khal iter sajiil soo'lu takah. Kirol sa karun al-adan. SOH KHAH RYU'UL ATFAL TARIIM, SHOHRA NA ATFUL ATAL.

    User avatar
    #112 - dancokacole (04/22/2012) [-]
Ooh, wow, you know another language. How amazing. And a transitional period would certainly help. No matter what you say, it would help. Parents would actually start thinking about it and would educate them. If their is a transitional period you can not deny that it would not help with the rough patch, either by shortening it or making it less severe.
    User avatar
    #106 - dancokacole (04/22/2012) [-]
I'm not bent out about them, I have more than a thousand, I just think it is hard to actually argue and pretend like you aren't a completely pissed off prick when you are disagreeing with simple logical reasoning and then thumbing down things that are 90% of what you say anyhow.
    User avatar
    #109 - LastCall (04/22/2012) [-]
Soo, where, dear choad, did I say it should be like soda? I have said it was to be treated as food. See, there's a difference there. Soda, in case you were unaware, is this fizzy stuff with a lot of high-fructose corn syrup, and usually comes in brightly colored cans and bottles.

I have made note that there will be a rough spot no matter what one does. And no matter how long one waits after announcement to implement this, there will be one. People WILL die because they are morons. So what? Again, I could care less if people choose to ignore simple common sense and die. Ignorant twits are not exactly in short supply in this country.

And, you have done a funny little turnaround here. You have gone from "Alcohol is bad, so just drop it" ((Your words, not mine.)) to "We both agree that it should be legal"

Do I need to translate this one for you? Or dumb this down any?
    User avatar
    #107 - LastCall (04/22/2012) [-]
Meanwhile, you cannot seem to actually read. You're also trying to say that you're essentially repeating my own words, and yet, here I am, obviously proving you wrong.

All the wile, you're scrabbling at your keyboard screaming "NUUURR! MA THUURMS!" And further proving to me just how pathetic you truly are.

You have no real world experience, and apparently no capability to comprehend written English. Well, you're in luck. I'm a Lingual Hobbyist. Shall we try Al Arabiyyah? Italiano? Espana? Russo? Nippongu? Deutsche? Maybe a fringe language like Khalani Shoh Khalai? Khalani Shoh Nehrazhiim?

At no point have I shown I have no concept of this language, i anything it was you who proves to be the moron. And let me explain everything I have read.
We both agree alcohol should be legal.
We both agree parents should educate their children on it.
differences are, You think this change should happen immediatily, I want a time period of transition.
You think that alcohol should be treated like soda. I think it needs some special attention.
You are the ignorant one, who has stopped arguing to insult me, and who refuses to accept we have any common ground on our standpoints. I guess your parents did not raise you as well as you think. Oh well, I don't fully blame you.

That still doesn't account for the lack of offensive wounds on Trayvon's hands. And *IF* Trayvon *DID* do any damage to Zimmerman, it would become a question of "Whom did what to whom first"

It's already been shown on record that the Police told Zimmerman to not do anything, and that Trayvon was on the phone with a friend moments before he was killed.

*IF* Zimmerman pulled the gun first, and Trayvon had caused any injuries, they would hardly help Zimmerman's case. However, there is still a lot of evidence against Trayvon ever actually getting close enough to do any kind of damage.

My guess is that these are previously attained injuries. Remember, Zimmerman actually *HAS* an arrest record. He is a convicted criminal. And now he's going to be convicted for murder as well.

I think all of the confusion as of lat stems from the release of one of his older Mug Shots, which show he was busted up. The newest one (as a result of his murder of Trayvon) shows no such thing)

This isn't exactly a credible source. The only sourcing material on this site is to the Orlando Sentinel which has no backing evidence.

The video quality is shoddy at best and it is entirely likely that people are reading too much into the shadows on his body.. If I'm not mistaken, Trayvon did not have any kind of bruising or scrapes on his hands and knuckles which would actually prove he had attacked Zimmerman.
