User avatar #114 - dungledoo (08/04/2014) [-]
No, because if it changed as the plane took off, meaning the time you die was not predestined be the clock when you first got it. Every different action you take would be counting down to your death due to that action, meaning getting off the plane would change the timer.
#100 - kanyesfishsticks (08/04/2014) [-]
#68 - 4chan refugee (08/04/2014) [-]
If the clock is based off your lifespan given a certain series of choices, yet changes when other choices are made. Then the clocks either don't really work, or are not 'set-in-stone'. So really it's a kind of oblique form of destiny that really doesn't make any sense since there appears to be exceptions.

The clocks would have to know everything that was going to happen before it ever happens in order to make any form of reliable estimate. And if that was the case, then there is no notion of free will since the clocks know precisely what you're going to do even before you do.

#44 - 4chan refugee (08/03/2014) [-]
Under the prose the clock is flawless.
State with full intent of following through. "I will tell the pilot to turn around if the clock time lengthens"
User avatar #30 - brockton (08/03/2014) [-]
which story is that
#27 - ownubycake (08/03/2014) [-]
But by that logic the only way that the clocks would get set to 20 minutes would be if someone already told the pilot to go back. If the clocks changed without the pilot planning to go back then the incident would only happen if they continued on course. If it changed before the trigger event (telling the pilot to turn back) then the death would have to be destined beforehand and thus the clock would have said that time regardless of anything before you even got on the plane.
User avatar #17 - antiponiesuser (08/03/2014) [-]
no, (to both your question and sentence), look:

Ppl go on plane, plane goes to Tokio = Clock signals immediate death.

Ppl tell pilot (or pilot is smart and infers the destiny of the voyage himself) to turn plane, then clock MUST change because the plane aint going to Tokio, is going back to airport.

Plane going = 1 action

Plane going back = 1 different action.
User avatar #20 - arziben (08/03/2014) [-]
that's not how it works buddy, the point of a magic clock that counts down until everyoen dies is that it can't be wrong, you can't alter a timeline, if everyone dies in 20 minutes it's probably happening, the mean of death or the event are irrelevant.
User avatar #23 - schwerdaddy (08/03/2014) [-]
In that case, the clock would never abruptly change time. If it was already prophesized that you would die on the plane, then the clock would have known all along what time to count down until.
User avatar #66 - arziben (08/04/2014) [-]
it could be limited to count down to a certain time
User avatar #24 - antiponiesuser (08/03/2014) [-]
thanks buddy, exactly. If the clock changes it means that the moment of death of an individual can be altered, as proven by the simple fact which constitutes the question as a whole:

how to save the people if the clock drastically reduces the life time span when they board the plane?

I'm not sure, but I think it can be done, as you can run admin's minions with this shader. In all of the photos, I am running optifine so I could get a larger render distance for the photos.

You sir, are ******* awesome. it's only on here that I find people with similar interests as me, but sadly I don't know much about the lambda itself, all I know is that it's used in math, and I think it's from the Greek (I don't really know for sure).
User avatar #35 to #34 - Lambda ONLINE (09/06/2012) [-]
It's a greek letter, the scientific symbol for wavelength, and the designation of a secret lab devoted to teleportation research.
