Well it's not a worldwide thing. I live in Denmark, and I only recall seeing maybe 3 automatic cars in my life here that weren't electrical. Everyone and their mothers drive stick here. It's also mandatory to learn to get your license.

That one really just depends on the car; trucks and jeeps are the most fucking common vehicle styles here, and they're commonly 10-15 years old at best anyway. A few of the really new cars have it, but again, the majority of the city drives used cars.

I live in East Tennessee (right before the mountains), and at least 3 people died last winter, and a bunch of houses lost power. It can be pretty brutal sometimes.

I guess the danger is in people not preparing, or being used to winter driving conditions. Here the people who get into the accidents are usually dumb kids or people who recently immegrated.
