| >Met someone in February on the internet >7 months later get engaged. Shit's not going to last. Be happy that she broke it off when she did because there's no way that you want to be in a relationship with someone who would do that. My english professor finished his work with the army and met a woman. Two weeks later they got married. He's like in his 60's - 70's and they're still together. #197009 -
anon (09/13/2015) [-] I met my girlfriend online and in six months she had already moved in with me. We've been going for five years now. Every situation, and every person, is different. Just because you wouldn't do something doesn't mean someone else wouldn't and just because something wouldn't work for you doesn't mean it wouldn't work for another person. Moving in and getting engaged are two different situations I agree with you 100% that every situation is different, but chances are if she's that quick to commit (OP's girl) she'd be just as quick to move on to something else Sit with the feeling and accept it, it won't go easily. Try and remember how she's wronged you, try and rationalize that you couldn't be with her again.

Stevethewizard (09/11/2015) [-] tl;dr: Americans are brainwashed to the point where we think shooting ourselves in the face so our bourgeoisie overlords can profit more is a good thing. If people actually sit down and think for more than half a second, they realize that either they're benefiting from the system fucking people over for them, or that the current system fucks them over in favor of the rich (corporate tax rate cuts do nothing to benefit the majority of workers, and most small businesses don't qualify for them. Employers pay the minimum of what they can get away with paying. They always have, and they always will. Unless your job is a skilled position, or you have years of experience, you will always get paid what they think is the lowest they can pay you is). But in America, we keep our people distracted from actually thinking by putting fearmongering forefront in our "news" broadcasts, and having pseudointellectual bullshit in place of actual thought-provoking programming on TV. I hate the majority of my countrymen. The ones who were taught not to question things. The ones who vote against their own best interest. The ones who spend hundreds of dollars a month on lottery tickets, thinking they're going to win the jackpot and just live the rest of their life in luxury from that. The stupid fucking 'Murricans. #47 -
Stevethewizard (09/11/2015) [-] Sorry if I came off as edgy. I have a tendency to be overly dramatic when I'm drunk. I do sincerely hate our "news" programs, though. I don't want to have to go online for decent news coverage. The internet is for drunken shitposting and porn. #50 -
Stevethewizard (09/11/2015) [-] Che was an idiot, and he left after he ruined things so he didn't have to do the actual work of rebuilding a nation. True communism doesn't work because people don't want it to work. Communism working requires people to work, which is something people don't want to do, so, since there's nobody to enforce the labor rules in true communism, it fails. In dictatorships posing as communist countries, we see people being put to work, but the people at the top are the only ones seeing any benefit from the work. This is what happens with real-world communism. I'm not stupid. I know communism doesn't work, and I know why. I know people are lazy shits and that people that seek power should almost never be given any. But that doesn't mean it's a bad theory. It's just not possible. That doesn't mean that all socialist policies are bad. Our roads are owned by the government, and funded by taxpayers. The American roadways are socialist. As are public schools, fire departments, public libraries, police departments, and even the US military. The food stamps that many employers encourage their employees to apply for so they can keep their employees alive while paying them next to nothing? Socialism. Social Security benefits for the retired? Socialism. The Veteran's Hospital granddad goes to for his bum knee? Funded by the state, ergo, socialist healthcare. People are afraid of a word they know nothing about. And they're being fucking stupid because of it. #58 -

bigmanblue (09/11/2015) [-] the UK has basicaly every problem the US has excluding size and we get along just fine, actually we have been doing worse since our gov has tried to take us away from those ideas Secondly, just because socialist policies work in the U.K doesn't mean they will work in the U.S. The biggest factor you're ignoring is the people; quite frankly, a massive amount of the population are completely against socialist programs, especially the concept of free healthcare and social benefits. Without the American people's support, which is almost guaranteed to not go through, Bernie Sanders doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of actually changing anything. #44 -

Any real socialist will say the same fucking thing. I mean fuck, the ignorance is astounding. The U.K is incredibly different in political structure though, the area where it counts. The U.S' issue is in its deficit and the way we've been spending our money for decades; that problem isn't going to be fixed in a single or even double term of a president. Bernie Sanders' ideas rely on the prospect of increasing spending (something we're trying not to do) so that his social reforms have the ability to work; but because of the money problem, excluding the unlikely possibility that his reforms will even be passed by congress, means that he is not the best choice. Quite frankly, there isn't a best choice this election.
