What is a laptop for? Let's start with some priorities. If you're gonna buy a PC to game, then you just literally paid several thousand dollars to play games. Microsoft office, email, the internet for academic purposes at least, and etc. don't need graphics that are better than an xbox or a PS3. Your argument is like saying buying a nice, new car is stupid when a clunker can do the exact same.

The games I play do not exist on consoles and if they do, they suck. For example battlefield 3. I also play LoL, WoW, TF2, SC2, and soon GW2 (if you get the names its fine if not its ok too).
Anyways what I want to say to that is, I can get a $300 pc to do what you just said. I am damn sure that you can not find a mac for $300 dollars from a retailer.

Get to college life, none of that will matter. I got skyrim on the midnight release but wasn't able to play it until winter break. You don't have time for gaming like you used to. No one really is, they just say they want it. Also I am buying my new laptop for myself since I am going off to do my IT education next semester. I did a bunch of research and all I was trying to say was that if you like macs, I am ok with you and their system, but PCs are best for me since they are what I will be learning to program with and integrate into systems.

Then let me go back to my original comparison, would you buy a new car over a clunker if they had the exact same mileage, speed, etc? Sure one doesn't have a cup holder and the other doesn't have GPS but regardless, would you? And don't be so sure, I remember seeing the flutter shy doormat on FJ a while ago and the last time I heard about it last week, the highest bid for it on ebay was around $7000

The main argument would be, why would you have spent so much for a mac originally? Not "go buy a pc". No one is trying to make you buy one but they are trying to inform you that you payed way more for the parts that you did pay for.

Mine personally was a gift, no sweat off my back, but I would probably buy it even if I wasn't given one for free. I've used a PC all my life until I started college and I just find the mac running smoother and with less hassle. I always had problems with my PC, (inb4 you should have taken care of it better) which in that case, a mac is a better fit for me anyways. It's all a matter of opinion in the end, if mine is gonna cost an extra thousand bucks because I simply like it better and that makes me a faggot, go ahead, I don't care. But so is everyone else who wants a nicer car than the one they have

nah reason isn't for me. logic is the one i really want to use because it's pretty much cubase but more user friendly.
