on day one, they didn't, as it had been purchased but not shipped over, as evident by the fact that they only began to ship in major arms when the British blockade ended.

This is referring to the second stage of the war. i may have used the link to that page Israel didn't have any tanks, planes, or artillery on the ground at the outbreak of the second stage, as that couldn't be flown in or wasn't according to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arms_shipments_from_Czechoslovakia_to_Israel_1947%E2%80%9349
and the British blockade didn't allow for any shipments of arms until 15 May - 11 June according to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1948_Arab%E2%80%93Israeli_War#First_phase:_15_May_.E2.80.93_11_June_1948
about half way through the fourth paragraph.

Some of the aircraft were lost en route to Israel. The delivery of aircraft began on May 20, 1948, and was conducted from the Czech airfield near the town of Žatec. Some of Avia fighters were dismantled and flown to Israel in transport airplanes.[4]

Some of the deliveries were not finished until after cessation of hostilities. Only eighteen Spitfires reached Israel prior to end of war by direct flight from Czechoslovakia during operations Velvetta 1 in September (6 planes) and Velvetta 2 in December 1948 (12 planes), both operations with a refueling stop in Yugoslavia. During operation Velvetta 2 Spitfires were repainted in Yugoslav Air Force markings for the flight from Kunovice to Nikšić.[5] The rest were shipped in crates, officially declared as scrap iron, along with 12 Merlin 66 engines, and deliveries lasted until the end of April 1950."

This is the closest evidence I can see to the point your making, but refers solely to the aircraft provided from Czechoslovakia and doesn't include the American given planes

#57 - Jowi (01/13/2016) [-]
No need to thumb me down dude. If you read comment 39 below I state that properly boiled leather will work to protect you but better against stabbing attacks than blunt force attacks. And the question heartlessrobot asked was would you rather wear a north face jacket or a fake leather jacket.

I'm gonna choose the padded jacket thanks

Those things are as flimsy as a windbreaker, you might as well have on a flannel shirt.
#39 - Jowi (01/13/2016) [-]
Have you ever been hit with a bat? Toughened leather would stop certain stabbing attacks but a leather jacket isn't gonna stop you feeling the full extent of a blunt force trauma.
Your best bet is to have something that is padded and gives you an extra layer of protection. I'm not saying it's not gonna suck still but it's gonna be better than having what is a essentially another layer of skin

christians, jews, and muslims had already lived in palestine and the crusades effectively killed people there of all faiths
#100 - Jowi (01/13/2016) [-]
But the pilgrimages were regularly attacked and the Saracen occupation of Jerusalem was slowly forcing the Christian population away.
The Third Crusade put into written word that all religions had a right to the land which is one of the best outcomes of any war ever. Only one major battle that was won fairly easily although I admit the civilian losses are disgusting and part of the reason that it was ended so quickly was the great respect between Richard Lionheart and and Salahudin

That is true. Keep in mind that Israel did pre-emptive strikes before the war even began.

The entire Egyptian Airforce was on the ground and stationed there when the attacks began. Afterwards, only 4 or 5 aircraft remained.

In addition to that, Israel also did pre-emptive strikes in the Western Bank. It's not like the war was purely one-on-one, but it also wasn't face-to-face. Israel did the equivalent of a Pearl Harbor, multiplied by 10 and without the suicide bombing.
#85 - anon (01/13/2016) [-]
They were preparing for war. Israel just fired the first shot. Besides what the fuck did they think israel was gonna do when they started massing their armies by israel's borders. Did they think they were going to surprise israel? "Oh these guys hate us but they would never attack us again!" said no one ever.

Lol I'll say it here.

Is cuz I trans and I know FJ ain't too hyped about that now
#5 to #4 - Jowi (03/18/2014) [-]
That's cool. And I'm not so sure about that. FJ, despite everything, is quite accepting of the more taboo aspects of life. For example there is a delicately named account of faggitboy who is also transgender and is on the **** page who has quite a lot of thumbs from butt-plug related photos and she also posted a picture of herself on that content about posting attractive guys photos to increase the amount of women that come to the site, you may have seen it. Anyway she openly came out as transgender then and all the replies I saw were glowingly positive ranging from "boner what are you doing" to just openly saying "dude, you're ******* hot".
You don't have to do anything as brash as that I'm just saying you don't need to be afraid around here, we're all comrades when it comes down to it. For a lot of us we're the family and friends that we lack in the real world and some of the nicest things I've ever seen have happened on this site.

Anyway all the best with it
