no, thats actually a big thing here. ricers, referring to "rice" which is what a lot of jdm cars are called, typically, honda civics, mitsubishi eclipses, and stuff like that, ricers drive like assholes, and they put a bunch of cheap crap to try and make their cars looks faster, like wings, bodykits, a loud annoying exhaust, and rims, while not doing anything to enhance the performance of their car. then they drive like they are the fastest things on the road, when in reality most soccermom suv's would beat them. as urbandictionary put it:
A person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to):

- Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder
- Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747
- Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool
- Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself
- Bodykit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire
- Clear tail lights and corner signals
- A "performace intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine)
- Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas,

yeah, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. My st3 was kinda pricey for a focus, but it's top of the line, all black leather recaro seats, nav screen, etc. etc. but I'm not a fan of the stock rims. I want some rays volks te37's (pictured) but they're way too expensive, so I think I'm going to get some volks look alikes, in bronze, I think. I was going to get black rims, but that is just extremely overdone by everyone, so I decided against it. I plan on getting a ford racing exhaust, ford racing cold air intake, cobb accessport v3 tuner, cobb catless downpipe, cobb fmic, and then I think I'll be pretty satisfied and stop modding it.
#180 - JoshOwnsAll (09/27/2013) [-]
that would look great. in chile all non-stock rims are... frowned upon, socially. the only cars you see with custom rims are crap-brown toyota tercels, nissan V12 and taxis. every guy would love to change his rims, but your car (no matter what model) gets this picture's look, and nobody wants to fall that low.

in chile that's not an option. even though I'd love to power-up cars, we pay close to 800 chilean pesos per liter for 95 octane gas. That's 6,02 american dollars per gallon!
gas being as expensive as it is here, we tend to buy cars with good fuel efficiency.
every time my family travels to america, we go nuts and rent american muscle cars, and enjoy your gas prices.

yeah, same with chevy, they make a small diesel truck, (the colorado? or something like that) but it's only available in diesel outside the US.

the engine's great! being a designed-for-work pickup, it's made for power, not speed. first gear is extremely short, and it would be nice to get a bit more from it without the engine exploding. It's not exactly mine so I don't know all the tech specs, but I have beaten a 2014 VW amarok in a traffic light drag. Being diesel, it gets VERY loud at 3000Rpm, kinda like a public bus.
anyways, it's great! definitely the best pickup of it's price range.

I'm not going to lie to you. I went to the ford dealership to look at their 5.0 mustangs. the 5.0 is fast without a doubt, but it still felt as if it was missing something. somehow the ST was brought up, and I'd never heard of it before. well I got to test drive a tangerine scream (the yellow the ST is famous for) and I fell instantly in love with the car. while I liked the color, it was a little to flashy, and even on the test drive it caught a policeman's eye too well, which I didn't like. but they had an "Oxford White" st3 on the lot as well, that wasn't being used as a test car, so it had about 7 miles on it while the yellow one had about 100ish. I ended up leaving that day with the white one, and do not regret my decision at all. I absolutely LOVE my car.
User avatar #159 - JoshOwnsAll (09/27/2013) [-]
my focus is oxford white as well. I didn't like white cars at first, but my used focus was such a great deal, that I couldn't say no. Now, I wouldn't change my White knight look for anything in the world. black might be badass, but white? white is badass in its purest form.

yeah, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet.
#180 - JoshOwnsAll (09/27/2013) [-]
that would look great. in chile all non-stock rims are... frowned upon, socially. the only cars you see with custom rims are crap-brown toyota tercels, nissan V12 and taxis. every guy would love to change his rims, but your car (no matter what model) gets this picture's look, and nobody wants to fall that low.
south american piece of shit cars FTW
User avatar #185 - karson (09/27/2013) [-]
I'm sorry, that sounds horrible. I feel for ya buddy.
User avatar #196 - JoshOwnsAll (09/27/2013) [-]
well, as long as you keep your car classy you have road respect.
idiots who drive ^those cars drive them like if they were on a fucking mclaren, challenging everyone and shit. man my focus beats them with me driving normally!
User avatar #198 - karson (09/27/2013) [-]
yeah, we have a shitload of ricers here too. all show, no go.
User avatar #203 - JoshOwnsAll (09/27/2013) [-]
ricers? is that a thing, or you misspelled racers?
User avatar #207 - karson (09/27/2013) [-]
no, thats actually a big thing here. ricers, referring to "rice" which is what a lot of jdm cars are called, typically, honda civics, mitsubishi eclipses, and stuff like that, ricers drive like assholes, and they put a bunch of cheap crap to try and make their cars looks faster, like wings, bodykits, a loud annoying exhaust, and rims, while not doing anything to enhance the performance of their car. then they drive like they are the fastest things on the road, when in reality most soccermom suv's would beat them. as urbandictionary put it:

- Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas,
User avatar #208 - JoshOwnsAll (09/27/2013) [-]
no hate on japanese cars from me, only on the riced ones.
You learn something new every day!
the sound a 1.2 engine makes with one of those huge exhausts... goddammit it ruins my day
User avatar #209 - karson (09/27/2013) [-]
oh yeah, I love jdm cars. I just hate ricers, haha.

and I know. why do they even try?
User avatar #210 - JoshOwnsAll (09/27/2013) [-]
I mostly leave them to embarass themselves some other day, but every once in a while these ricers need a 2.0 slap to the face!
User avatar #211 - karson (09/27/2013) [-]
yeah, I've given a few civic si's a turbocharged 2.0 slap in the face, lol

89 F350 with non-turbo 7.3 diesel. its not a huge truck but it feels like a big rig when you're behind the wheel! I love the engine roar while driving so I use it to determine the optimum shifting time. When you do try it, the best thing is to RPM just slightly higher. my truck shifts at 1950RPM so first time I took it to 2050 and let it slow down till it went into gear.
User avatar #160 - karson (09/27/2013) [-]
god those non-turbo 7.3's are sooooo slow. used to have one on the farm. great torque, could pull anything, but man, we have dump trucks that were faster.
User avatar #164 - rollmenot (09/27/2013) [-]
haha true that, mine has some smoke stacks so it looks bad to the bone! but loud is all it is
User avatar #175 - karson (09/27/2013) [-]
yeah, my first car was a 1994 f250 with a 5.8 in it. loud, and slow, lol. My stepdad has an old ragged out '78 with a built and cammed 460 in it, and I gotta tell ya, that thing sounds fucking glorious. and its fast as fuck. I've eaten some old mustangs in that truck, with an old auto transmission, no joke. it looks like shit, so I guess it's somewhat of a sleeper, haha.
User avatar #178 - rollmenot (09/27/2013) [-]
I'd looove to make an old sleeper! I'm looking for an old GMC stepside truck to make into a weekend gas guzzler. If I only drive it once a while I don't mind it getting 10MPG if it goes from 0 to fuckoff in 3.7!
#182 - karson (09/27/2013) [-]
yeah, the '78 gets like 8 mpg no matter how you drive it, haha. but its powerful. its one of those trucks where the whole truck leans to the side when you rev the throttle. also, I do have my senior project from high school... not exactly a sleeper, people expect it to be fast haha. 1970 mach 1 mustang. its got a built 5.0 pushing about 500 hp. hope to supercharge it one day.
User avatar #184 - rollmenot (09/27/2013) [-]
Supercharger would make that thing an orgasm on wheels! one thing I wanted to try was to put the V10 Triton from an f350 into an F150 and supercharge it. that v10 moves a f350 easily, imagine what it'd do to an F150!
User avatar #186 - karson (09/27/2013) [-]
oh yeah, that'd be a fast ass truck. we have an old '95 f150 with a stock 5.0 and that thing already feels pretty damn fast.
User avatar #189 - rollmenot (09/27/2013) [-]
My sister drives a 2000 explorer with the 5.0 and I always told her it was a soccer mom van until I put the throttle down. those things are built right
User avatar #191 - karson (09/27/2013) [-]
yeah, in HS i would borrow my mom's explorer with a 4.6 in it and go and eat ricers all day, lol
User avatar #194 - rollmenot (09/27/2013) [-]
American muscle! I do admit thought, driving my 2.5 wrangler around I do appreciate good power from a light engine. my engine is light enough to where I could take a corner at higher speeds and feel safer than with the 4.0, and still strong enough to keep up with the best. but I could talk allllll day about my wrangler
#197 - karson (09/27/2013) [-]
I feel ya on small engines. My DD is a 2014 focus ST.
its a turbocharged 2.0. fun little car, for sure.
User avatar #199 - rollmenot (09/27/2013) [-]
Sweet! i want to get a turbo for my wrangler but the kit cost's more than I paid for the car so i'll either custom make one or just live without it
User avatar #200 - karson (09/27/2013) [-]
I'd say go built block. might be cheaper, and then down the road if you still wanted to go turbo, you could do it, boost higher psi, and make a shit ton of power.
User avatar #146 - JoshOwnsAll (09/27/2013) [-]
fuck that's huge
gotta love old ford trucks, huh?
I have a 2012 Focus SE, but currently I'm driving a 2013 3.6 diesel Ranger. It's a great truck, but the south american ones are assembled in argentina, and the transmission is a chinese piece of shit. that aside, I love it.
User avatar #148 - rollmenot (09/27/2013) [-]
I didn't even know ford put a diesel in the new rangers! how is it?
My first truck was an 87 ford ranger with a mazda perkins turbo diesel!! 2.3 stick shift. you couldn't ask for a more reliable (Or slow) truck!
User avatar #161 - karson (09/27/2013) [-]
I think the newer rangers are only available with diesel engines outside the US
User avatar #162 - rollmenot (09/27/2013) [-]
I think you're right, as well as diesel tacomas. that's a shame too cause I hear the diesel tacomas are top-notch
User avatar #170 - karson (09/27/2013) [-]
yeah, same with chevy, they make a small diesel truck, (the colorado? or something like that) but it's only available in diesel outside the US.
User avatar #154 - JoshOwnsAll (09/27/2013) [-]
the engine's great! being a designed-for-work pickup, it's made for power, not speed. first gear is extremely short, and it would be nice to get a bit more from it without the engine exploding.
User avatar #157 - rollmenot (09/27/2013) [-]
I sold the 87 ranger last year and bought a 97 jeep wrangler. and when I get the motivation i'm going to put a 6 cylinder Mercedes turbo-diesel in it. Some guys have squeezed as much as 400 ft-lbs of torque and 380 HP out of them
User avatar #168 - JoshOwnsAll (09/27/2013) [-]
in chile that's not an option. even though I'd love to power-up cars, we pay close to 800 chilean pesos per liter for 95 octane gas. That's 6,02 american dollars per gallon!
gas being as expensive as it is here, we tend to buy cars with good fuel efficiency.
every time my family travels to america, we go nuts and rent american muscle cars, and enjoy your gas prices.
User avatar #174 - rollmenot (09/27/2013) [-]
dang! 6per gal is cray! I live in South Carolina and gas is 3.20 here and diesel is 3.79 but the Merc diesel engine even with that kind of performance would still get around 18-20MPG, my 7.3 was getting 10MPG!! ha
#183 - JoshOwnsAll (09/27/2013) [-]
10MPG wtf
you know an MRAP (military truck in the picture) gets 3MPG?
that's not far behind from your 7.3!
User avatar #187 - rollmenot (09/27/2013) [-]
Haha I know! my 7.3 is geared very low for pulling and I'm also a young driver so its a bad combo for MPG ;)
User avatar #193 - JoshOwnsAll (09/27/2013) [-]
I feel you on the young driver part. no matter how hard I try to raise my efficiency, my focus combined with my driving wont go above 9.9Km/L that's 23.29 MPG. my university is kind of far away (in chilean parameters) from my house, so I have to fill her up at least once a week. that's like 77 bucks in fuel a week, on a 2.0!
User avatar #195 - rollmenot (09/27/2013) [-]
ouch! I lived 8 miles from the farm I worked on and in my truck I was spending 120$ a month on fuel on average
User avatar #202 - JoshOwnsAll (09/27/2013) [-]
I live on the rich parts of Santiago, and my university is in the poorest (the terrain was cheaper there I guess). it's a 14 mile drive (small streets, traffic jams, etc... No fast highways I can use) I don't mind driving long distances, but in chile streets are shitty. the government builds them for today's traffic, but they ignore that the traffic grows each year. speed bumps and broken pavement galore!

you are dealing with special cases there, man.
generally speaking, a dad who plays pokemon with his sons is cool.
but he should be a supporting father, who teaches his kids about pokemon... but just so much so they can't beat him. and when they finally win... imagine the kid's face.
