just wondering how are you an atheist not by choice just curious. im agnostic because i was brought up to believe only what can be proven which is why im not atheist because science cant explain everything leaving the possibility of a god open

I tried to believe in God, but some bad things happened and now I simply refuse to believe at all. Science simply makes sense, no matter how cold and uninteresting.
I think I was a better person as a believer, because now I feel that if I was to go out and do something like rape a five year old girl to death and let some dogs eat her corpse, I could just shrug it off and say, "Well it doesn't matter, she was going to die anyway lol". Such apathy horrifies me. I wish there was something to stop me, but I know there isn't and it makes me very sad. If I wanted to, I could just do it. And so what? It doesn't mean anything, not a fucking thing, and so science proves.

I've been told I was going to hell several time by several christians. I have had fliers posted on my locker telling me I would burn because I didn't go to a church group. I have been spit on, socially isolated, and otherwised bullied because I refused to blantantly reveal my religion. Mind you, that's just me not disclosing my religion, not preaching against anyone.

Ergo, yes. It happens. It happens on both sides. People are just assholes, no matter what side of the fence they are on.
