My apologies, I meant 4.6. I was concentrating on V6 versus V8 and mistyped. I remember because I had to pay extra for a tranny mate system because the Fj's was not low enough.
User avatar #67 - Jewssassin (01/03/2015) [-]
So you're telling me you had an FJ Cruiser with a 2UR-FE in it and you traded it in? I find that extremely hard to believe. World wild FJ Cruisers only came with a V6, a V8 was never an option, I just looked into it.

It depends on the configuration, which Toyota lists. My 2010 TRD had the mid package 4.8L V8, and pushed around 300 easy. I don't buy lot vehicles, so that may have something to do with it. You always get more options if you buy new from the factory, versus whatever prepackaged deals they have ready to go.
User avatar #64 - Jewssassin (01/03/2015) [-]
Uhhh....Where do you live? Toyota does no offer a 4.8 Litre V8 in any vehicle in the Toyota Lexus fleet in the US. The only available engine in the FJ Cruiser in the US is their 4.0 1GR-FE.

I'm in what you might call... A lower income area. People only pay for what they need to get the job done. They do the very minimum to lift it. Usually a cheap kit from ebay or something that they put in. We can never get the adjustments right. Sent an old Ford out the door with the camber in the red. Nothing I can do about it. Just gotta tell the customer they'll be wearing tires, and it might pull. Most don't care. They've got a lifted 15 year old truck, and that's good enough for them.

Besides. Dealership life is different. Everything is new, easy to work on, and people have money to burn if they're willing to pay the dealership rates. Of course they're gunna get the whole kit.
User avatar #61 - Jewssassin (01/02/2015) [-]
Oh not everyone has money to burn, trust me. And I see plenty of old rusty shit boxes. Im in a Toyota dealership not a Lexus dealership. They make 3 inch lifts for FJs that allow you to do the proper adjustments with the stock control arms. Its basically just a spacer that sits on top of the springs. And you flat out need that if you want to up your tire size without destroying your rack and pinion. I've seen them come on brand new vehicles.

Exactly why I'm concerned for the OP of this post. Also, I don't own one. I work on cars for a living, and had the 'privilege' to align one with a lift kit in it. Dude didn't get nearly enough caster angle, but that's his problem now.
User avatar #31 - Jewssassin (01/02/2015) [-]
Must of been a shitty lift. I work at a Toyota Dealership and for lifts 6 inches and over I usually see a whole new subframe and lower control arms that give more then enough adjustment on caster and camber.

You don't need to worry about power, my old FJ)before I traded it in) had around 300 stock. More than most pick ups, and some muscle cars. Worked just fine.
User avatar #60 - Jewssassin (01/02/2015) [-]
They actually have less then that stock. Its about 260-270 depending on the quality of the gas.

I find the middle wiper dumps the water right in the way of the driver's vision, which makes it hard to see. I live in a mountainous region, where we have long, steep hills all over the place. I don't like having to downshift twice just to maintain 50mph. And that's exactly the visibility I'm talking about. It's impractical for everyday driving. But then again, you can probably afford a second vehicle just for play.

Honestly though, I'm not much for off roading. I'm more of a... power, handling, and functionality kind of guy. Ergo, I drive a GSX-R on the good days. That's an Asian motorcycle. ^.^
User avatar #28 - Jewssassin (01/02/2015) [-]
My FJ is my only car.It was made for off roading and I bought it just for that. I dont see why you would buy one if you werent planning on off roading it?
