I feel like he was actually happy to be in the meth lab one last time. He finally said to skyler it made him feel alive and in the minutes before he died he knew he actually achieved what he set out to do in the beginning.

Spoilers

The episode's name, Felina, is a refference to some old song in which a guy shoots five cowboys but gets shot himself and then dies in the arms of his love (I think it was the song playing at the beginning, when Walt started the car and the car radio began to play).
So in the ending the Neonazis were the cowboys the "hero" shoots, and chemistry is the love in who's arms Walt dies.
I find it amazing how many references they hid in the titles and stuff, like Heisenbergs hat laying in the desert is a reference to Ozymandias. (See pic)

www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIHRgisdbeY <-- The song.
User avatar #182 - jibb (10/02/2013) [-]
FeLiNa
can just be an anagram for Finale
User avatar #183 - schnitzelwagen (10/02/2013) [-]
That, too. But I just re-checked, and it's indeed the song that plays when Walt starts the car, and it just fits too well to be coincidential.
User avatar #184 - jibb (10/02/2013) [-]
I don't see how Felina is a reference to that song, though
User avatar #187 - schnitzelwagen (10/02/2013) [-]
Felina is the name of the "Mexican Girl" in the song. The protagonist of the song dies in her arms.

"From out of nowhere Felina has found me,
Kissing my cheek as she kneels by my side.
Cradled by two loving arms that I'll die for,
One little kiss and Felina, good-bye."
#71 - ydosac (10/02/2013) [-]
yeah, that's true. I didn't know that thanks.

I have seen this making the rounds on the internet as well, it takes a look at the name FeLiNa from a chemistry point of view. Like you said, so many hidden things hidden throughout the show.

SHIGGY DIGGY!
#74 - schnitzelwagen (10/02/2013) [-]
Yeah, I wouldn't have known either if I hadn't read it somewhere. There are probably dozens more of those hidden throughout the series.

pic unrelated.

That's what I meant by things were tied up, there were a lot of little details with big meanings, they were just gently displayed. If that makes any sense. With how strong some of their other episodes had been in the past, I had hoped that the last one would have a bit more to it. It was good though, don't get me wrong, I'm glad everything was resolved.
#215 - JHDog (10/02/2013) [-]
yeah it wasn't the best episode, after Crawlspace and Ozymandias it's hard to live up to that haha. But thought it was best possible way for the show to end

base on your first sentence i can tell you personally aren't affected by this, my mother works for the passport center in an airport which is (obviously) government owned and is helping me pay for college. Luckily (for us not for others) the shutdown is only affecting the national parks, but if it progresses then she will be out of the job. And you have the nerve to tell me "let them go"? Just because it will "lower" our $16 trillion debt that's, When there are other things that we can obviously cut (i.e. over saturation of military budget) a while Obamacare, aka affordable care act, aka universal healthcare has worked for other countries. Even with or without this bill, the insured are still paying for the uninsured (Why do you thing hospitals overcharge a shit ton to people who are insured? It's because the uninsured are the ones who've gotten treatment but obviously couldn't afford it). This national debt has been going on for years, and people honestly have been going on with their daily lives, but this shut down not only will it affect me and my mom but the other millions of people in the same situation.

Problem is, when Obamacare goes into effect, most businesses will cut their employee's hours to avoid making them sign up for it, so the 40-hour work week will be cut. Everyone will be put in part-time positions to make everyone struggle more.

#39 - JHDog (10/02/2013) [-]
do you mean they went down with the democrats? That maybe so, but it's for that reason alot of people now aren't working and they'll be more to come, while the guys up in congress are still getting paid. All because the republicans don't want obama care and are inadvertently playing with jobs of millions of american people.
