Yeah, I'm tired of running over hookers for now. Let's get wasted and hit some pins.
Well, ok, story time, how did you come up with your username?
Couldn't come up with anything when I was making it, just figured I'd go for something dumb since I didn't think I'd stay with the site. At the time one of my friends was nicknamed fetus, he's blonde, I'm also blonde, **** it it'll do.
That was about it.

I don't really remember. It was a few years ago.
Something about a basketball game and an anti-abortion ad.

Well that just raises even more questions. Still, It's always cool to find kin on here. Mind telling me a bit about yourself? Or did you mostly just want to point out our names?
Haha, well yeah I mainly just came to point out the names, but what the hell.
I'm eighteen and about to graduate high school. Don't currently have a job but I'm planning on going to college to pursue a psychology degree of some sort, or something similar. I've yet to decide if I want to do behavioral research or research on the brain itself.
And you?

And you?
I'm 22 and mostly just chilling and enjoying/hating the apartment life. No long term ambitions at the moment; i'm pretty content with working the 9-5 right now.
Those are some fairly lofty interests you have, how did it all come about? Just curious about how the brain ticks?

Sounds nice, what kind of work do you do?
Well, I've known I wanted to go into some sort of scientific field for a few years. I began wanting to be a therapist of some sort, but I realized that doing that would likely keep me away from any real research into my field.
At one point, my father was doing a bachelor's program in criminal justice and had to take some psychology courses. He hated them, and had me read some of the stuff he was given in class to show me why. It was a fairly technical paper on working memory and it's role in thought, and for some reason I could really dig into it. Honestly, just the idea of what a thought actually is is really interesting to me, and it was about then I decided I wanted to at least try to go into research within cognitive psychology or even neuroscience.

I work at a rehabilitation hospital, though it's not drug rehab. We're sort of a hospice/physical rehabilitation facility which specializes in traumatic brain injury (TBI), something you might come across in your studies actually. Basically we take in people who have suffered grievous head injury and slowly try to reestablish broken cognitive or physical links, preparing them as best we can to reenter their lives as functional as possible. I work in the kitchen, so I just serve them food, set up their dining tables, wash their dishes afterwords and the like. It's a truly honest living and I get paid fairly well to do it; it's comfortable and rewarding to help and befriend some of the patients.
And I can completely see the appeal of your field. I remember reading a post here awhile back asking something to the effect of "If the body doesn't have a soul, then what tells it to move? The brain? Well then, what tells the brain what to do?" and I instantly fell in love with the concept that we were, for all intents and purposes, a complex series of electrical and biological surges and jumps that drive the body toward some sort of ultimate destiny (reproduction and expansion, in my opinion), seemingly at random. Just a bag of meat flopping about. It sounds unappealing, but I just love the idea. It seems utterly incredible and special to me. And all of it, all the infinite potential to shape physical and dreamscape universes come from a 3 lbs hunk of flesh. One that's aware of itself, wholly. You've picked an awesome field.

That sounds like a great job. I'd wanted to be a doctor before I wanted to be a therapist, the idea of being able to help someone in such a direct and necessary way always appealed to me. Another thing about research in cognition is that new findings can have huge impacts on treating all manners of brain injuries and mental disorders, and that's something I'd love to contribute to.
It is an amazing thing. In my opinion it's the single most fascinating and mysterious thing on our planet. Just to think about how much data the brain manages every second just to stay alive, and to even be able to have that thought in the first place, is astounding. It'll be a long time before we have a solid grasp of what actually goes on in it.

Yeah, I'd actually like to become a CNA some day for a similar reason, since I can more directly help them.
Also, thinking about the data thing, have you heard about "The Chinese Room"? If so, what are your thoughts on this?

Jeezus, I just looked up some miscarriage pictures; ****** raw.
To be honest I have no goddamn clue how I wound up here.
I think it was: Missy mass messaged me, I looked at her profile, saw your comment there, was wondering what you were talking about, looked at your profile, saw this comment, googled it myself, and proceeded to find the household bleach and ease the pain my brain was having.

Oh god, I've lost all ability to actually spell things when away from the computer. I think I remember hearing once that spell check can help you practice but that's complete horse **** .
Tell me about it, the only reason I can spell at all is my mom is a total grammar nazi and english freak. I fear what will happen when I leave.

I just woke up not too long ago and this was the perfect convo to get me started. Blood, guts, and baby butts. Today's gonna be a good day, thank you.
That's awesome dude, got anything else? How long have you been doing this?
been at it for a few years, big pile of stuff below this comment here :P my current work is an Elephant Gun, its about 6.5 feet from the tip of the stock to the end of the barrel, and once its all put together should be absolutely glorious
Are you using the Long strike Nerf gun for that? Or is it from scratch? I've looked at all the pictures now; ******* cool man. And yeah, totally open up that shop and you'll have a guaranteed customer in me!

actually the sniper is made out of part of a broken R700 airsoft rifle I got at a rummage sale, and a big hunk of PVC pipe, along with some added bits I cant disclose just yet ;D heres it at the moment, ive only just started to plan it out and make cuts, but think along the lines of the revolver sniper rifles from borderlands 1.
Damn, i'd love to see that once you're finished. I have a Nerf gun, and now I really want to do something with it XD how much do all the cogs and paints usually cost you?
not too much, a majority of it is just stuff that I find laying on sidewalks or at rummage sales, but when I need more special bits then it can get more costly, head to homedepot or michaels craft store, they have just about every thing you'd need,
but the best place is rummages, you can find an old appliance for like 3 bucks and just scrap the thing, if you live in an area with a H.O.A. check their newsletter over the summer for if there's any organized rummage sale days, its pretty common, otherwise, just look for signs while driving around. Ohhh! another great place, Goodwill. if you have a larger Goodwill store near by those places are absolute goldmines. Almost everything there is from people who have recently died, but it doesn't cost half a damn so who cares,

We actually do have a Goodwill fairly close by. I think I might try crafting a steam-punk gun.
and thats all the ones that I have left at the moment, the others are all works in progress or have been sold online XD eventually I plan on having an etsy shop open,
