haha actually you can trade this one guy for onix to beat the flying, and get some flying type to beat the bug gym. its not too hard. also meganium is awesome!

Training up a Pidgey (be honest, who trained up a Spearow or a Hoothoot) is literally the worst and most aggravating thing ever, but there are only two things more satisfying than seeing the screen for Pidgeotto evolving into a Pidgeot

and that's Dragonair into Dragonite, and Metang into Metagross

if you've done neither, you missed out on Pokemanz

ive played every game, and i ALWAYS use grass starters! chikorita > tododile > cyndaquill. ive never liked fire starters!
User avatar #508 - ImInfinite (08/25/2011) [-]
You have to be a BAWSE to pick Chikorita in Gen II, the first two gyms work against you (Flying and Bug), there are NO decent pokemon to catch (I caught a Gastly, but it's pretty much useless pre Night Shade and Hypnosis), and there are no real type advantages in any of the gyms or the elite 4 (Gyms are like Flying, Bug, Normal, Ghost, Fighting, Steel, Ice and Dragon and the Elite 4 is Psychic, Poison, Fighting, Dark and Dragon), so if you beat Gen II with a grass starter, I salute you.

I've liked Fire Starters ever since I figured out that beating Brock was possible with a Charmader

Ever played Gen II? the strongest pokemon (Lance's Dragonite) is level 50
Gen I was the Rivals starter which was level 63 I believe

Wallace's highest level was Milotic, being 58

Gen II, if you used Cyndaquil (Which EVERYONE did), was disgustingly simple

emerald was waaaaayyyyy too easy if you caught raquaza though!
User avatar #503 - ImInfinite (08/24/2011) [-]
Not neccessarily, you really only catch Rayquaza after the 8th gym if you have a decent team, and even then, you need a different pokemon for Wallace of the Elite 4, because he'll kill Rayquaza with one ice move.

You can't just get Rayquaza, and blow through the rest of the game
it becomes easier, but not that much easier

Dude, 100% with you! :P RSE was my favourite generation overall. I still prefer the GSC starters to any of the rest, and some of the GSC features that were left out, but overall, Emerald wins my vote

Agreed. Not so sure about B&W. What I loved about it is that they really tried to make an interesting and engaging story while keeping the formula. I like that. Not a fan of the new pokemon, but I can live with it. Didn't really like the idea of triple battles either. Doubles were cool, but just upping it to triples kind of showed me that they are out of ideas... :P Still, a step up from D&P.

Despite FJ's love of nostalgia, I'll go out on a limb, and say that Emerald was LEAPS AND BOUNDS the best pokemon game that there has ever been, and will ever be
