Unless you've been genocidal you can't talk shit about people who try to exterminate people, and you can't talk shit about people with homicidal tendencies or rage issues unless you've experienced it.
Fuck any of you who legitimately think it's okay to tell someone who's that upset that they're a tyrant.
Patronizing someone and belittling their feelings is a shit thing to do, whoever you are. You don't know what it's like to be them, no matter what they're going through.
"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view, until you climb in his skin and walk around in it."
User avatar #102 - HorriblyCrazy (07/07/2013) [-]
uhm, Hitler thought he was genuinely helping people. He was totally fucking wrong and should have been tortured for all of eternity, but he wasn't thinking logically. Nobody who's able to think logically kills 6 million people.
People with homicidal tendencies often have mental illnesses or didn't receive enough oxygen during birth.
I'm not saying that these are excuses, but there are reasons behind actions and feelings, silly anon, and they must be taken into consideration.

Step outside of your little box.
User avatar #89 - zzforrest (07/07/2013) [-]
This, this, a million times this. I get really angry when people act like anybody sad or considering or attempting suicide is just a faggot who should grow up. Just because somebody else has it worse doesn't mean you can't have it bad either, plus nobody ever considers the fact that there are mental disorders out there. One guy I knew literally didn't know that depression was a mental illness until he graduated highschool.
User avatar #172 - captainfuckitall (07/07/2013) [-]
That's not the problem. The problem is that all these people who tend to talk about how shitty their lives are do next to nothing in order to improve it. Lets take overweight people for example, I knew some overweight people that were so picked on due to their weight that they killed themselves, and in the final note wrote "I tried everything to lose weight", yet I had never once seen them go to a gym (Despite offering to take them: I am overweight as well and want to lose it), and every lunch they just ate the most disgusting, fattening foods. These people were so depressed that they were willing to kill themselves, but they were NOT willing to work out, eat right, and actually try to lose the weight. Do I feel bad about it? Not one single bit. I understand that it's easier to wallow in your own self-pity than actually work toward accomplishing better things, but gods damn if you're going to whine and complain, do it alone because no self respecting person who IS trying to better their lives wants to hear it (hence the guy in the picture telling the emo's off)

User avatar #110 - daentraya (07/07/2013) [-]
Depression is usually a spiral of shittiness, and will deliver you to rock bottom in no time. Once you're depressed, not only do you feel shitty, but it is legitimately more difficult to feel happy, and those two factors will just make everything grey, shitty and boring, until you're unable to really feel anything but that
User avatar #182 - zzforrest (07/07/2013) [-]
It was a typo, he didn't mean to say that he meant that you can't just snap out of it.
User avatar #184 - daentraya (07/07/2013) [-]
I always thought that having the opposite meanings of words to be 1-2 letters away from each other was odd
User avatar #186 - zzforrest (07/07/2013) [-]
It's contractions. If we were taught to say "can not" or "do not", we would say that. But we are taught to say "can't" and "don't" instead because it was easier. Contractions were made to be simple and easy to fix.
User avatar #187 - daentraya (07/07/2013) [-]
Indeed, and i do not question that. But when you write it, it's still 1 letter away from meaning the complete opposite, and such typos are then super effective

User avatar #95 - zzforrest (07/07/2013) [-]
Don't what?
Complete your sentences or imply things that have been said in the most recent statement by the opposition. At the moment you are implying that I am the one who was becoming suicidal and that I haven't snapped out of it.
User avatar #98 - ewl (07/07/2013) [-]
depression sucks and people who tell you to just snap out of it can go die in the most painful was possible. i did not mean to imply that you are trying to kill yourself. and i personally know that you can just snap out of being depressed.
User avatar #99 - zzforrest (07/07/2013) [-]
You... are kind of confusing me.
Lemme get this straight
1) Depression is bad
2) You can snap out of depression
3) People who tell you #2 are terrible
Also I was talking clinical depression, which in some cases can never be recovered fully from.

Ok, well we haven't talked about it in Psychology, that will be more next term. But, to me, I consider suicide a point of insanity, why else would one consider their death the only possible choice? It's irrational and I still consider it a selfish and cowardice act. Though, I've never been depressed for more than a day, so nothing severe, but I understand enough to know why people think suicide is the only answer. You just think nothing will get better at all, and that life just sucks and that's just how it's going to be, you can't do anything about it.
But I still can't compare to depression long term really. I've noticed, in my life, that I become more of a drifter for some period of time, neither happy nor sad, basically emotionless towards stuff. That's the closest thing I can compare to with depression.

very debatable topic.

I seriously don't understand suicide or cutting. It just doesn't make sense to me.
#104 - HorriblyCrazy (06/26/2013) [-]
Just because you don't understand something, doesn't mean it's retarded.

Self harm is a coping method. It's used as a means of having more control, feeling pain for the purpose of reminding oneself that they /can/ feel things, punishment against oneself, and/or much, much more. It doesn't make a lot of sense until you experience it.
Scientifically, it helps because they pain caused by the self harm causes endorphin's to be released that help calm the person and make them feel better, regardless of the original reason. (I think the same kind of thing makes people go into shock but I'm not a doctor.)

With suicide, I can only really speak for myself. I've been to the point where I was so horribly unhappy that it felt like it was the only thing to do to make things at least not as shitty. I got to the point where it was hard to breathe, and I couldn't get out of bed in the morning and go to school. Sometimes I couldn't get out of bed at all. I missed three months of school because of my depression and anxiety. Medication and counseling didn't help. The only reason I never attempted suicide was because of my family, who I'm not even close to, but I couldn't imagine putting them through that.
Some people are suicidal because they feel too much. Some people are suicidal because they feel nothing at all. Some people are suicidal and they don't know why.

It's kind of the same way with self harm. Whether someone starts because they feel too much, too little, or nothing at all, it's still there. It's still has the (very high) potential of becoming an addiction.
I haven't self harmed in months and I still get random thoughts almost everyday that I should. Just one, or just two, or just ten more little scars; but I'm happy right now. Or at least, I'm a hell of a lot happier than I was. It doesn't stop the thoughts. I can't really tell you why.

I hope that makes sense in some messed up way.

I've seen a dude who chopped both his legs off, he had mental illness.

bitch kids who cut themselves because daddy never got me an iphone or Justin Bieber smoked weed are just fuckin stupid pieces of shit who have asshole parents who don't know how to raise children.
#84 - HorriblyCrazy (06/26/2013) [-]
Cut for Beiber was a hoax from 4chan and nobody actually followed through, you gullible fuck.
And no, people who just 'cut' for attention don't actually end up cutting, because that shit fuckin hurts. They just scrap a branch across their wrist and show people.

Also, self harm isn't just cutting. It's starving, binging, purging, hitting, and much more.
People who self harm become addicted, and can not stop without considerable strength, effort, determination, and support.
User avatar #80 - vatra (06/26/2013) [-]
The cut for Bieber one is just stupid, and yes some are just attention whores. But the majority of those involved in self harm, you'll never know it. They hate it yet can't stop and don't go around broadcasting it.
