aren't you guys always advocating that the dad be able to walk away when he wants if he wants? Why can't the mother do the same?
If you got a girl pregnant and she kept it but considered giving it up for adoption would you help her pay for her medical bills, or maybe would you take responsibility for the child since it's your kid too? Would you sacrifice your education to raise the kid by yourself? If you said no then I don't think you can blame a woman for saying no too.

no, it doesnt, and it doesnt justify your bullshit, just the same as being drunk doesnt justify crashing into another car

jk the point is that if you get your viddle piddled without widdling the diddle, it's entirely your fault if you get preggo and it's entirely reasonable that people don't want you to kill what may or may not count as a baby because you made a bad decision
#13 - anonymous (05/25/2014) [-]
Well some people view the embryo as a child, in which case it's murder. So you can see why people are upset by that.
#60 - commontroll (05/25/2014) [-]
Here's the problem with that logic, you don't see that embryo as a person (at least that's why I'm getting from your statement) but the people who are against abortion typically do see them as a person, albeit highly underdeveloped. Thus, when you say "Oh, whatever, people should just do what they want," as a defense for abortion, the way pro-lifers hear that is "Everybody should do anything they want, including murder.
I am going to assume that you do not support the murder of able bodied humans, or say that people should be allowed to go shoot up a school if they want to.
So you can say that it's different to get an abortion versus killing a baby, and that may be so in the eyes of the law as in some states you can kill a baby so long as its head hasn't come out of their mother, but the second that head is out it's murder.
Only it doesn't even work that way either. If a baby survives a late term abortion, a lot of times they will be simply left to die. Do some research on how abortion clinics work and I'm sure you'll probably change your mind, especially when you find the undercover videos.
So, that's why people get so upset over abortion.
Also, side note:
I've never understood the whole argument of "it's my body, my decision." The embryo from the get go has a different set of DNA and is replicating at an astonishing rate, and actually stop looking like a clump of cells very quickly Why the hell do people claim it's their body when only half their DNA matches half the DNA of their child?
#112 - lillpip (05/26/2014) [-]
I guess. But it doesn't have a brain, or consciousness, so I don't personally see it as a person or living thing the same way you'd view a flower. Yeah, I guess it's alive, but not in the way a person is. That's just an opinion though.
I know how they work, but if you fuck up, you fuck up. Well executed abortions are easy, clean, nobody gets hurt, and the embryo doesn't survive. Sometimes you fuck up a C-section, sometimes you fuck up an abortion. Mistakes happen.
It's half their DNA, half their partners. I see where they're coming from, but I don't necessarily agree either.
#113 - commontroll (05/26/2014) [-]
And you're entitled to that opinion, but let me inform you a bit more as to how a baby/fetus develops in the womb. They have a brain, hands, knees, eyelids, and a few other things at 8 weeks. Three weeks later they're basically human in appearance. They have their own organs their own brain that is taking in information even then, etc.
I feel like the vast majority of people have actually been misinformed about what a fetus/baby/whatever won't upset somebody actually looks like and how rapidly they develop. It's a lot easier to justify abortion when you believe it's just a clump of cells for the majority of the time.

It really comes down to what you value more. Some people value their own rights more; some value others' rights more. I value an embryo's chance at life more than my right to a good life, mostly because the positives from having a child outweigh the negatives.
#18 - lillpip (05/25/2014) [-]
I suppose. The way I see it, even though I know it's a shitty way to see, a life of poverty, depression, and worry isn't living. It's surviving at best, life is for enjoying and having fun and doing your best to make it as great as possible before you die, having a baby before you're ready, or being born into a life like I described, isn't living.

sex is a basic human drive tho... as horny as fj is I figure you guys would understand better than most people.

I'm against abortion in the instance of "I just don't want this baby." If you don't want a child, or are unprepared for one, don't fuck. And if you do fuck up, then, at least put it up for adoption. Yes, I do feel like it's murder in either case.
In cases of rape, or where the the life of the mother is in jeopardy, abortion may be necessary.
#121 - hoponthefeelstrain (05/27/2014) [-]
but our justice system isn't perfect, it'd be hard to prove it was rape. You'd have to go to court and by the time the court settled the baby might already be born, then what if it was rape but there wasn't enough evidence to prove it? Or if the judge felt like "she was asking for it?" And what about men who get raped and it results in pregnancy? Should the woman be forced to abort?
I personally don't think it's murder and I feel like if they're responsible enough to know they shouldn't be having kids then I'd rather they didn't bring a child into this world. Also do you personally plan on adopting?
