Well, I believe American Capitalism could work, if our system and people would hold their ground and not let money buy them out, like now.

For our system to work we need honest people something are government is lacking. For one the federal government asserts itself as more dominet then the state government. WHen they should be equal further more congress is way to powerful despite the check/ balance system

The only type of system guaranteed to work is one where the people running it truly want it to work and aren't just there for their personal gain. I think finding the perfect system is more of a social issue rather than a political one.

Ideally? A hobbesian Leviathan state. Realistically? No fucking clue. Everything has its flaws, and it doesn't look like any system is faring well at the moment. Even China's power-elite single party system hasn't stopped their economy from slowing.

I don't Government shouldn't protect it's people it should serve it .
User avatar
#403 - lecherouslad (06/12/2012) [-]
if you want someone to serve you, why don't you hire a domestic servant?
A government is an organization that you pay to protect you( that's oversimplified version)
User avatar
#406 - mcstorms (06/12/2012) [-]
Government is a person or people who run society in a certain place. If we need protection we can do it ourselves. I want my government to just make sure it's people are happy.

#407 - lecherouslad (06/12/2012) [-]
and with a monarchy, the King/Queen, tends to satiate their own desires. So how is it an equitable government?
User avatar
#408 - mcstorms (06/12/2012) [-]
Magna carta Limites the power of the king and queen. With the right limitations I belvie it can work
#410 - lecherouslad (06/12/2012) [-]
I suppose putting all the power in person cuts out the possibility for a bureaucracy, I mean what could possibly go wrong?
<(What could go wrong)

If you limited their power that couldn't happen Hitler was an absolute dictatorship
User avatar
#412 - lecherouslad (06/12/2012) [-]
who limits the power? In Monarchy, no power rivals the King/Queen's.
(can't say "people", because you've given up your rights so that the Gov't may better serve/protect you.)
User avatar
#413 - mcstorms (06/12/2012) [-]
I can too say people. We have given up no rights. the king is their to guide and serve. Without a his people a King is nothing, but a present. It is yin and yang.
User avatar
#417 - lecherouslad (06/12/2012) [-]
Well, if people hold power over the King/Queen, isn't that position a wasteful expenditure? he/she is practically a middleman, if the people will eventually implement their will regardless of his ruling?
in addition, If the people are making decisions, isn't that a democratic system?
User avatar
#434 - mcstorms (06/12/2012) [-]
No.
The King / Queen makes the laws. The people have the right to revoke any law deemed unfit. So long as it's just. For instance the King wants to pass a law allowing murder the people revoke that law.

The system isnt perfect I have only thought about it as you are asking me these things.
User avatar
#439 - lecherouslad (06/12/2012) [-]
you realize, this sounds suspiciously like a system already in place in the world.
IE. Executive, and Legislative branches of the American gov't system.

I do, But the president is limited far to much while congress can do whatever they god dman feel like doing.
